@IRanthology @albondarenko2 @maik_froebe The intention was the idea of train tracks, or conference tracks. Originally TREC only had a single “track” for the adhoc and routing tasks, but around TREC-4 it grew tracks so we could tackle more problems, esp. cross language IR which birthed NTCIR and CLEF.
