After he sorts his plumage, you can see this Bittern sucking in air. You can just make out the booming above the Geese!

A beautiful Spring day at Minsmere. Chiffchaffs, Cettis Warblers and Wrens were making themselves heard. We saw a Bittern and Beardie (briefly) and our first proper sighting of a Blackcap this year (with obligatory branch). @RSPBMinsmere

What a treat to see this Bittern lift up from the reeds and fly in front of the Bittern hide today. It's Spring at last and we should start to see plenty more Bittern action from now on. @BtoSuffolk @suffolkwildlife @bbcwildlifemag
