International Test Pilots School (ITPS) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the United States Air Force Test Pilot School (USAF TPS) to provide HU-16C flight test training and support services in support of the USAF Data Driven Test Course at Edwards Air Force Base, California. Under the awarded contract, ITPS will deliver flight instruction, maintenance support, and flight hours using its HU-16C Albatross Amphibious Training and Laboratory Aircraft System (ATLAS). The contract supports USAF TPS academic and flight test objectives by providing a fully instrumented, multi-crew aircraft platform optimized for performance testing, flying qualities evaluation, systems assessment, and data-driven flight test education. "The HU-16C Albatross provides a challenging and highly effective multi-crew test environment, and we are proud to support USAF TPS in delivering realistic flight test training to its students.” - Dave Lohse, CEO The HU-16C Albatross ATLAS is a uniquely capable training aircraft, offering real-time data acquisition, laboratory-style instrumentation, and seating for pilots, flight test engineers, and evaluators. Its multi-crew configuration enables realistic, analytically driven flight test missions aligned with modern test pilot training requirements. ITPS has operated the Albatross safely and reliably since 2017 and brings extensive experience supporting military and government flight test organizations worldwide. “This award underscores the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School’s commitment to rigorous, data-driven flight test education,” said Dave Lohse, CEO of International Test Pilots School. Thiago Macedo, Head of Training, at the International Test Pilots School, leads complex training operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, mission-relevant instruction to flight test students. He is a seasoned experimental test pilot with extensive international experience. Commissioned by the Brazilian Air Force Academy in 2006, he began his career as a fighter pilot flying the A-29 Super Tucano and AMX in operational roles. In 2016, Thiago graduated from the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS) as a Fixed Wing Experimental Test Pilot. Since then, he has participated in numerous flight test programs, including weapons integration, high-angle-of-attack (AOA) testing, STOL, systems testing, and operational evaluations, amassing over 3,100 flight hours in 50+ aircraft types—jets, turboprops, and rotary wing platforms. He joined the Brazilian Test Pilot School (EFEV) in 2019 as a Flight Test Instructor and served as Chief of Flight Training and Safety Officer, instructing performance, flying qualities, and systems flight testing with a focus on advanced flight control systems. His leadership contributed to the graduation of many Category 1 and 2 flight test professionals within the Brazilian Air Force. “Leading our expert flight test instructors allows me to witness the positive impact ITPS has on the flight test community. ITPS (Canada) Ltd. was privileged to host a distinguished delegation from the Indonesian Air Force for an official site visit in London, Ontario. This weekend, International Test Pilots School and International Tactical Training Centre (ITTC) members from Team 'MAYDAY! MAYDAY! MAYDAY!', including our CEO Dave Lohse, participated in the 2025 Toronto Tough Mudder. This endurance event presents a series of challenging obstacles over a 5 or 15 kilometre course designed to test participants' all-round strength, stamina and mental grit. The obstacles are designed to focus on a team approach to completion, and we were extremely proud to have all team members successfully navigate all the obstacles over our 5 kilometre course! CIRP delivers time-critical, peer-based support to help pilots and engineers recover from stressful events—ranging from major incidents to the challenges of everyday operations. Feedback from the three-day course was overwhelmingly positive.
