@CalebPeng 🎯 I think people saying this is a bad meta are being disingenuous. Consolidated or varied doesn't matter. All that matters are that its balanced and give opportunities for knowledge and skill expression. Will it get boring eventually? Yes, so we change it for the next one.

A meta could be small and be a good meta. A meta could be big and be a bad meta. These concepts aren’t mutually exclusive. This is definitely a good meta. 🔥

GBL, a tale of 3 sets

@dezzzisthebest Yeah this is the flaw. Not enough games to separate players and huge cliffs for all or nothing from the main event. This is the biggest reason I haven’t done a tournament in almost a year. Next tournament I’m doing is to see friends more than compete.

Went 2-2 at Pittsburgh. Hoping to do better kick off the new season. Unfortunately came away with no championship points. Here is the issue with the current system. Multiple 2-2 in my group but myself and one other player started in round 1 while other players started in round 2 which gives them advantage in the current double elimination format. I am hoping introduce dynamic Swiss seating soon and go into Swiss format full time and let double elimination format fade away into the sunset. I will not be playing anymore regional events till they announce regional will be doing the new dynamic Swiss seating format.

@Jmillz113 @CustomApproach_ Totally valid I don’t disagree in these points. I think many grass roots orgs do a really nice job with formats and disputes. We’ll see how the points shake out and if it makes a meaningful difference for qualification for GBL players.

@IVpips @CustomApproach_ - Play is buggy and I don't need to travel for GBL - Fair point, but you can still make the argument that a worlds competitor should be good in both formats - Already happens anyway, Play more likely to punish cheaters than Niantic/Scopely - Dispute system in Play also not great

Remember when we wanted any incentive to be on the leaderboards for so many years? We finally have something. I'm very excited about it as someone who can't attend as many events as others. More things like this please

- Buggy game format - Blind 3 allows little interactivity with your opponent compared to s6p3 - Leaderboard manipulation - Cheating - No way to dispute for equitable results The biggest fear I have is it will incentivize people to play GBL less, since camping leaderboards might save a regional trip. This could make queue times worse and result in less people hitting legend. Me: A player with much better GBL than P!P results who thinks we should be careful how much we weigh GBL results in P!P points. It's OK for these formats to remain separate IMO. Let's have online tournaments instead.
