There is no greater example of a misnomer than your handle “I legal Thinker” The argument does not posit that the child should be punished for the wrongs of the parent. That is the basis of DEI. The argument is that children born to people in our country illegally who are then raised in that foreign country will naturally have an allegiance to the country they were raised in not born in.
