So, when the Chinese government is building a "super embassy" in London, national security doesn't matter. But it does when a Chinese company wants to invest billions in Scotland's renewable energy sector? 🤔 Independence can't come quick enough. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
John Swinney@JohnSwinney

Deeply disappointed that the UK Labour government has blocked Ming Yang’s investment in our renewables industry - putting up to 1500 Scottish jobs at risk. At the very moment we should be building clean energy, they are sabotaging Scotland’s industrial future.

@Euan4Falkirk Not desperate - just facts. You know that the funding doesn't buy buses, right? It funds the difference between an EV and a combustion engine vehicle. And it's the operators who buy them not the SNP... Maybe want to direct that question to your billionaire donors.

@IainSinclairSNP Blatantly desperate stuff Iain. I back buses being built in Falkirk. The SNP were prepared to fund McGills buying buses built in China last time round. Why did the SNP block them when they wanted to build them in Falkirk today?

Did national security come into it when the actual Chinese government wanted to build a super embassy in London and had it approved? Or is it just the destruction of the Scottish economy where that excuse is rolled out?

@IainSinclairSNP Why did the SNP's ScotZEB3 block £16m of investment of additional orders into Falkirk and send them to China instead today Iain?

Frankie Boyle and Ricky Gervais are neither homophobic nor racist. Yet another example of a rich man using his privilege to pay-away the damage. "I'm not homophobic because I made a donation to a gay thing after being homophobic..." Gies peace. Vote Reform, get undesirables.
Malcolm Offord@Malcolm_Offord

The media have been having another pop at me, so here are the full facts for the public to judge for themselves: Eight years ago, in 2018, long before I was appointed a government minister in the Lords, I gave the Burns Night after-dinner speech at a rugby club before a large crowd of members and their friends, wives, husbands, and partners. I must admit, I’d had a bit to drink by then, and finished with a crude joke about the late George Michael, as I had been connecting his songs to Burns’s works. It was intended to be funny through being edgy and shocking, but I’m no Frankie Boyle or Ricky Gervais. Instead of being funny, I made members of the audience uncomfortable and instantly regretted it. I immediately apologised to the club, and made amends by voluntarily donating to the King’s Cross Steelers, the original gay-inclusive rugby union club, to support their travel and participation in the Bingham Cup in Amsterdam. I then also arranged a fixture between my club and theirs. So that’s the whole story of what happened eight years ago. Most of the media won't publish the joke, but I see that the general gist has now been reported, and I don’t want to sully your screens with something so crude.

DFM Kate Forbes described the decision as "sabotage of Scotland's industrial future. "This decision has been sitting on the desks of UK ministers for over 18 months - their dithering will have far-reaching consequences that once again, will be left for Scotland to deal with." 5/5

Brilliant news for Ayrshire - 450 new skilled jobs in Prestwick as Ryanair expands its maintenance hub. This week alone we've announced over 2,300 new jobs coming to Scotland. Much of that is down to the immense work of Kate Forbes, and I can't thank her enough.

Ryanair = £20million ScotGov/ScotEnt = £15million UKG = £5million Imagine being so arrogant that you fail to mention you're the smallest part of the deal, and continue to take a victory lap to an awkwardly silent crowd...
Brian McGinley@McGinleyForAyr

Delighted to be joined by Scotland Minister Kirsty McNeill who announced £5 Million to support local jobs at Prestwick Airport. That’s 450, high paid, high skilled jobs. That’s 60 apprenticeships for our young people. That’s a UK Labour government delivering for you.

When I said some Reform supporters are racist, this is what I had in mind. I will always stand against those who try to divide us with hate. 👇

Stroke victims and their families deserve better than someone who makes jokes at their expense. These comments are unacceptable for anyone to make, let alone someone who aspires to be First Minister of Scotland.
David Mitchell 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺🇺🇳@dm180914

😱: Leader of Labour in Scotland Anas Sarwar asks a female photographer “did you get my stroke pose?” “What!?” He laughs and doubles down: “a picture I saw online, it looked like I was having a stroke.” Anas Sarwar must apologise! Not acceptable for a party leader.

Euan missing the nail and bashing his thumb here... The point of the memo looks clear - if devolved nations disagree with the area of direct spending, do it anyway and undermine the democratically elected devolved government. That isn't partnership - and it ain't respectful.
Euan Stainbank MP@Euan4Falkirk

Wild patter from the SNP when the context was Labour UK Investment into our communities, which many in Scot Gov would have preferred to see this go to Edinburgh. Just to confirm then do you therefore oppose the £20m Labour are investing in the Braes Villages and Hallglen?
