For the first time in over 20 years, Israel has deployed tanks in the West Bank, after expelling 40,000 Palestinians from refugee camps. This is a prelude to full annexation, and makes a mockery of the ceasefire agreement that Israel continues to violate. We are witnessing ethnic cleansing — and our government’s ongoing failure to defend international law is utterly, utterly shameful. Palestinians are human beings who deserve self-determination. I can’t help feeling that what’s happening in Gaza is the beginning of the end for all of us. If we can have a genocide live-streamed during the Super Bowl and say nothing, theres no challenge in the coming years that we won’t fail.

As a Muslim I will never again vote Labour and I will do my very best to encourage other Muslims not to vote Labour or Conservative either. I have been a lifelong Labour supporter and a Trade unionist and a former Branch Secretary. The time has now come where Muslim voters up and down the country need to find alternative solutions to just blindly voting Labour just because it was the thing to do. I hope and pray that all those gutless Muslim MPs up and down the country who chose not to resign lose their seats in the upcoming General Election. An entire culture, history and people are disappearing under the rubble – buried by the moral cowardice of our political leaders. Artists whose work we will never know. Teachers whose lessons we will never learn. Children whose laughter we will never hear. We must keep raising our voice for an immediate ceasefire. For the universal application of international law. For our shared humanity. For the only path to a just & lasting peace: an end to the occupation of Palestine.

Recently when Ukraine was attacked by Russia, I personally flew to Poland to support the Ukrainian refugees who had been displaced by the effects of war. So many people spoke up about these atrocities but as the world watches what is unfolding in Palestine, I see so many of my peers, friends and colleagues who are remaining silent. Why? It’s become apparent that people are scared to show their support for Palestine. Palestinian lives matter. The world will remember who spoke up and who didn’t. And God will remember who stayed silent while innocent Muslims blood was spilled. “if any one kills a person - it would be as if he killed the whole of humanity: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the whole of humanity.” *Quran 5:32*

Israeli air strikes have hit Al Ahli hospital in Gaza. More than 500 people - patients, doctors & those sheltering - have been killed. What unspeakable horror. We will mourn their loss forever. Our leaders could have spoken up for peace. They chose to cheer on war instead. When will they demand an end to these atrocious war crimes? How many Palestinian lives will it take to call for these indiscriminate killings to stop? Please, for the sake of humanity, raise your voice for an immediate ceasefire. The existence of the Palestinian people is at stake.

Nobody on this Earth whose not lived under military occupation, under siege, been a target of genocide, survived numerous massacres and buried their children, grandchildren, grandparents, their neighbours children, their in laws, has the right to police the grief of Palestinians
