Even if it's true they interviewed 25k Nigerians, it still does not make up to 0.5% of our population. Also, Nigerians hardly disclose their true earning capacity to anyone, even rarely to their spouses not to talk about disclosing it to a company. Let's be objective

Let's tell ourselves the truth. This stat is misleading. PiggyVest users are not a perfect representation of all Nigerian adults. I don't even use them. Also their customer base is lean compared to the population of Nigeria: They just have digitally aware users, younger demographics, some salary earners and side hustlers. Using a platform-specific insight as a “national truth,” is a misinterpretation of fact.

2020. Just after the COVID lockdown, I traveled to Lagos to look for a job. My first interview was at Ikeja GRA and I was staying in Ikorodu. When we got to Maryland, where I was supposed to get a bus, he said he was going to Mile 12 and that he would drop me there. I started praising God in my heart. We started talking and he asked how I would manage from Ikorodu (not even the garage, inside inside) every day if I got job. He asked the cost of transportation. I didn’t even know, because that day I had spent more than I should since I didn’t know the place. Then I laughed and told him I didn’t even know. I said I was actually planning to trek home that day because all the money I had left was 200. The way he looked at me, I almost went to hide under the car seat. 😭 Well, he decided to drop me off at Ikorodu garage, took me to where I would get a bus to Elepe, paid for it, and even gave me money for a bike from Elepe to my house. E do me like film.

I have gone through the comments and quotes under this post and all I can say is wow. This is another case where Nigerians throw logic outside the window and use their emotions instead. The soldier knows that the armed forces has a policy against social media, known as the Armed Forces Policy on Social Media He knows what would come, and he knew he would get into trouble for all he had been doing. Truthfully, the soldier is NOT being honest in his "exposure". He said he was charged with 4 counts, but tactically refused to state them. He was definitely Not charged for "telling politicians to enroll their children in the army". He might have been questioned about the video, but that was NOT his offense.

This trend just reminded me something, My female neighbor downstairs was crying one night. I was coming upstairs and heard someone screaming, I had to stop and knock on her door to see if she was ok. I was like babe why are you crying?? She said she met a boy yesterday and she told the boy her groceries has finished. The boy promised to take her to market square for shopping. The next day the boy came to pick her up, they got to market square as a greedy mumu girl she carried a trolley , gave the boy her purse to hold, inside her small purse was her iPhone 15 promax, her ATM cards and some change. The boy was behind her as she was shopping and pushing, she got to a point and turned she couldn’t find the boy anymore., She left the trolley and ran around the whole market square. He has already drove off. I called her number tire no picking. In my mind I was like it serves you right. You met a man today immediately your groceries has finished, before you met him how have you been surviving and sustaining yourself?? Gutter behavior.

The main problem I see here is not the girlfriend allowance, but the lifestyle inflation. He most probably has not had that job for up to a year, yet he moved into a 3 bedroom serviced apartment. I left Lagos after I got my first remote job which paid naira by the way. My monthly salary could cover my rent in GRA in Benin. Despite relocating to Berlin with a job, I lived in a shared apartment for the first 9 months and only recently moved out of the studio apartment I rented in a student’s apartment building. And that’s because I got married. A single man without kids has no business renting a serviced 3 bedroom apartment, more so when he’s a tech bro and his primary source of income is a remote job in a company outside Nigeria. Firing you is as simple as deactivating your slack account. The girlfriend deciding to leave him now serves him right. I mean, what are you doing with a woman who clearly is in survival mode when you’re not? He won’t learn from this experience especially if his friends decide to treat his lack of planning as their own emergency. He will reach out to borrow money a lot, and I hope they all turn him down.

She put me through school and paid for all my tuition and feeding until I graduated, she even sponsored my masters to the UK. Now here in the UK, I’m working for a big brand and even working on my PhD. I’ve met someone here who matches my energy and degree, she earns more than I do. For the first time in 2 years, our compound gate man travelled. Just two days. And everywhere has scattered. Normally the man does everything. Open gate. Pump water. Fuel the generator. Wash cars. We didn’t even realize how much work he was doing until he left. Yesterday morning, water finished from the tank. Everybody came outside looking confused. Nobody even knew where the water switch is. Later we contributed money to buy fuel for the generator. Then someone asked, “Who will go and buy the fuel?” Silence. Nobody moved. Last night I came back home without my key. I knocked and banged the gate for almost 45 minutes. Nobody opened. This morning I even had to wash my own car. First time in years. Then the waste disposal people came. Nobody attended to them. They just dropped the waste and left. Omo… Only two days without our gate man and this compound has completely lost direction. It’s going to be a very long week for all of us.

A guy leaving for UAE saw my Samsung A'series and liked it. He said once he got there he'll send me money so I'd buy similar one for his wife. Talk about unexpected topics like family history, provocative topics and unimaginable discussion, go deep into their soul and bring out the demon in them and weigh if you want to cope with them forever. Don't think you can change a person once you are married, they always become worse, look at them not physically now but emotionally, psychologically, temperamentally, and in every way, if you are okay with them and will cope with them forever then you can proceed. May we marry right and be the right person for our spouse.
