A great morning in Lowell celebrating Veterans Day with local veterans, students, and community leaders. Thank you to the City of Lowell for being such a strong partner in supporting veterans with housing, healthcare, and community services.

In Gloucester today, @IamJonSantiago joined local veterans to read “Veterans: Heroes in Our Neighborhood” with students at Beeman Elementary — teaching the next generation about service, gratitude, and community. Stay tuned for more Veterans Week stories from across Massachusetts.

On day two of Veterans Week, @IamJonSantiago visited the Veterans Association of Bristol County, one of our many community partners supporting veterans and their families across Massachusetts. While federal SNAP funding is temporarily paused, many local food and housing resources remain available to veterans. Programs like HEROES — our statewide housing program — and community partners like VABC are helping ensure every veteran has access to the support they need. Day two of Veterans Week brought us to the South Coast, where we spent the morning with the Veterans Association of Bristol County (VABC) connecting with local veterans over coffee and touring their new facility — a vital hub providing food, clothing, and community support. We then joined student veterans and staff at @BristolCC to discuss education, workforce opportunities, and how the next generation of veterans is shaping our Commonwealth’s future. Stay tuned for more stories and highlights from this week’s visits across Massachusetts.

21,000 veterans currently receive SNAP benefits here in Massachusetts. Thank you @KerryKavanaugh and @boston25 for having us on yesterday to talk about this important topic. If you're a veteran that's worried about having your SNAP benefits disrupted, please reach out to us at EOVS or contact your local VSO for assistance.

Did you know Veteran Services Officers (VSO) are located in every city and town in the Commonwealth? They provide essential services like helping veterans access their federal benefits, career opportunities, and even housing assistance. This week, VSOs from across Massachusetts are meeting at their annual conference in Leominster to network and learn the latest information so they can better serve our veterans and their families.

Massachusetts veterans and families: the federal government shutdown does not affect state-level services from the Executive Office of Veterans Services (EOVS), all remain fully operational.    For official federal guidance on any VA service interruptions during the shutdown, review the VA contingency plan here: department.va.gov/contingency-pl….    Additionally, you can also contact our EOVS engagement team directly at (617) 210-5480 or fill out a contact form: mass.gov/forms/contact-…

“These grants allow us to plan ahead and meet the needs of veterans for the next decade, while preserving the honor and dignity these cemeteries represent.” EOVS Secretary Jon Santiago The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ National Cemetery Administration has awarded more than $4 million in federal funding to expand the state’s two Veterans Memorial Cemeteries at Agawam and Winchendon. This ensures that Massachusetts veterans and their families continue to have access to dignified resting places for the next decade.

Happy NCSL Week! Massachusetts is proud to welcome this year’s National Conference of State Legislatures to Boston. Secretary @iamjonsantiago joined the Military & Veterans Affairs Task Force to highlight the transformation of veterans services over the past two and a half years—from creating EOVS, to passing the HERO Act, to advancing our campaign to End Veteran Homelessness. We're grateful to @SenJohnVelis for the invitation and continued partnership as a true changemaker in veterans services—and to @AdjutantGenMA and Rep. McGonagle for representing the best of our Commonwealth’s military and veterans community.
