I’m Mauritian, proudly of mixed heritage. Brown and Black. Kreol and Malbar. Race in Britain doesn’t neatly map onto its last slave colony. I descend largely from indentured labourers but also slaves, from South India and also Mozambique. Blackness is many things, but not fixed.
