@IanG94 @_raphm I mean, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist. They want to make it a landmark and increase naming rights revenue. There’ll be more commercial space to lease. Non-matchday revenue. Away-game revenue by having “box park like” viewings. The viewing tower visitors.

For all of Southgate’s flaws in game, it always felt as though we would be in the mix at big tournaments. Really struggling to see this Tuchel side getting past the quarter final stage. Hope to be pleasantly surprised.

@henrywinter Should be ahead of Konsa too. Played consistently at a higher level and a key part of the United side that has been the best in the league since Carrick took charge

Harry Maguire has to be ahead of Trevoh Chalobah in the England central-defensive pecking order. It’s not even a serious debate. Chalobah, 26, has only 90 mins’ international experience, the friendly loss to Senegal. Maguire is 33 but is in form and brings all the experience of 64 caps, including at two World Cups. He brings leadership, distribution, importance at corners and penalty-taking. Chalobah also needs to regain fitness and get back in the Chelsea side. Maguire also has to be ahead of Dan Burn, a Thomas Tuchel favourite but not always the most confident against swift, elite-level attackers. Maguire himself can be caught out but currently showing his abilities, including anticipation of danger, after being restored to Manchester United’s defence by Michael Carrick. If Marc Guehi and Ezri Konsa are England’s first-choice pairing (depending on John Stones’ problematic fitness issues), then Maguire makes a reliable first change from the bench (especially with pace alongside). He also brings leadership off the pitch and an important sounding board for management, FA staff and younger players. #ENG

I'm sorry but taking the title away from Carmelo Hayes just three weeks before WrestleMania is crazy. I love Sami, but this was definitely the wrong move. #SmackDown

🚨 SHANE WARNE - THE MASTERMIND. 🚨 📢 Shane Warne took a salary of just 9.35cr from Rajasthan Royals for playing for 4 seasons, but here’s the real twist: ⚠️ He demanded a 0.75% equity in RR every year till the time he plays for coming out of retirement! ❗️Warne played for 4 seasons and secured 3% equity in Rajasthan Royals. 💰Today, RR is sold for 15,301cr and his 3% becomes 460cr for his children. 🤯👏

It's time to give Frank Lampard his flowers at Coventry City. ▪️ NINE points clear. ▪️ Highest scoring team by miles. Did he take that Chelsea job too early in his career, and has he now shown he's going to be a top, top manager?

@FabrizioRomano These international friendlies make little sense. League seasons are at a pivotal stage, why would any team/player competing at either end of the table want to risk playing in a friendly

Mood amongst some England fans is that Ben White didn’t deserve a recall after his self-imposed exile. “Mostly (the mood is) that he shouldn’t be in the squad. He’s made his bed…” says one top-capper. #ENG 1/2

Trent Alexander-Arnold plays right-back for Real Madrid. Started home and away against Manchester City. He won the Premier League and Champions League at right-back with Liverpool. He’s used to dealing with pressure. He’s taken a decisive tournament penalty. He’s played in the World Cup before. He has occasional defensive deficiencies but he brings a long-range passing skill that few possess. Are England that blessed at right-back that they don’t need Alexander-Arnold? That he isn’t amongst the best 30 outfield players available to Thomas Tuchel?

@McFlybowy Go off article but Palmer being more of goalscorer than a key passer is a lie. He has high volumes of key passes from his last two seasons but somehow get less assists than his xA which is a huge pointer that the attackers he provided for at his club are morons.

This position will decide whether England go all the way or not. The midfield duo is locked down Rice and Elliot Anderson and they will completely dominate, but what England now need is a creative #10 to balance it. I’ll break each option down: Bellingham: He’s the most complete attacking midfielder this season….goals, assists, involvement, and progressive play are all top tier. He’s a box-to-box player, but he doesn’t have the positioning of a classic #10 and isn’t a pure pocket creator. Cole Palmer: Creates danger through shots and goals more than passes. He’s basically an attacking midfielder with striker instincts, but he’s more a scorer than a “key passer” and may struggle to unlock highly organized defenses. He also contributes little defensively, with limited pressing and tracking. Foden: Operates between the lines, can drift wide or cut inside, and thrives in fast, fluid attacks. He’s still one of the most creative attacking midfielders, but he tends to drift wide or deep, losing influence centrally, as we saw at the Euros. His defensive contribution is /also minimal. Eze: Very effective when hot, but he’s not a classic #10. He prefers to operate in pockets from the left rather than centrally. He can be brilliant one game and quiet the next, and his tracking back and pressing are very limited. Rogers: Energetic, with goals and assists, but still developing. He lacks top-level consistency and is not yet a reliable creative fulcrum for a team that needs a structured #10. England’s #10 options this season all share the same problem: they score more than they create. Palmer, Bellingham, Rogers, and Eze all threaten goals but don’t unlock defenses. England currently has no true #10 who combines elite scoring, consistent creativity, and central positional intelligence. The only player who could have played as the main #10 is Maddison, and unfortunately, he won’t be available.
