👮♀️Right now, too many residents don't feel safe. Lack of visible policing is a key factor.
Police numbers have been cut by Sadiq Khan over the years, leaving just 75 officers to cover the entire borough.
That’s not enough to keep our streets, homes, and families protected.
Out this evening listening to residents in #Balham with fellow council candidates. Recent reports of flash mob anti-social behaviour in neighbouring #Clapham have understandably upset people and added to concerns about rising crime.
@Conservatives will work closely with police and stand up for safer & cleaner streets. Vote @Conservatives on 7 May. @TeamLondonUK
Crime and anti-social behaviour are rising in #Balham Town Centre — from phone theft to shoplifting — and too many residents feel less safe than they did just a few years ago.
Conservatives will work with police and stand up for safer streets. Vote @Conservatives on 7 May @TeamLondonUK
The Labour Government expects @wandbc to raise council tax by more than 80% after the election.
Last night, @WandswrthLabour confirmed they have no plan to close a budget gap equivalent to a 130%+ increase in tax. They are trying to take residents for fools.
St Mary Magdalene, Wandsworth Common, welcomed their new Vicar Rev’d Michael Johns-Perring. The Bishop of Kingston, Rt Rev’d Dr Martin Gainsborough, led the service. Wonderful to meet local clergy, faith leaders, friends, family and the SMM congregation.
Tube strikes this week mean many of my residents in #Balham & #ClaphamSouth can’t even get to work. Hard-working people are being let down yet again. Londoners deserve a reliable transport system, not constant disruption.
Out this morning in #Balham sharing @DrJonathanIliff, @SAbouzahra12 and my annual report. We’ve listened to residents and are acting on:
🗑️ Missed bin collections
👮 Tackling crime
🌳 Protecting green spaces
🛍️ Supporting small businesses
🚍Thousands back G1 Bus Campaign🚍
There has been overwhelming support from local residents for our campaign to restore the G1 bus service to 4 an hour.
The Wandsworth Conservatives team went to City Hall today to hand in the petition. It is time for the Mayor to listen.
Over the past 3 years, residents have contacted me about unsightly old @bt_uk phone boxes in #Balham & #ClaphamSouth. Some have been removed, but too many remain. I’ve raised this with the Council - they’re pressing BT, but powers are limited. I’ll keep pushing for updates. 📞🚫
🚫 I’m inundated by residents in #Balham asking why they can’t pay to park without a smartphone. Not everyone has one - and many worry about getting fined. Removing meters removes choice. We need inclusive, accessible options!
Out listening to residents in Balham today with these fantastic @Conservatives women. People are deeply concerned about rising crime and the impact of ongoing police budget pressures in London. It’s clear - we need to put safety first.
