Accumulated small changes over the years shows the horror of consistently making bad decisions. However you slice it, may be they're targetting a different market now and their priorities have changed; the ethos of the company was eroded in small indiscernible steps.

@andyps1275 @hjwakerley @PentagramMsport It turns out the car was flooded during the storm and an insurance write off. Someone sent it to Europe where it was fixed and converted to EU spec for sale. If you know what you are looking at and prepared to do some detective work you will be fine.

@andyps1275 @hjwakerley @PentagramMsport Last year I saved a friend who was looking at a 991 Targa in Germany via AutoScout. I realised that the car was a US model but converted to Euro-spec bumpers and lights. I traced the car to a dealer I known in Atlanta and found it was sold to Florida weeks before a hurricane.

@MCosovich @theintercoolerx @hjwakerley The W202 C-Class was the first Mercedes to use the wrongly formulated porous base coat under the soft wrongly formulated water-based paint, followed by the W210, which suffered the same fate. The W201 and W124 were painted the previous way and did not have this problem.

@IanKuah @theintercoolerx @hjwakerley D.B. used to be the bench mark for Luxury and prestige, and RELIABILITY .Had a friend with a 1990 Lexus, invincibly reliable for 30yrs, little wonder they outsell all other luxury brands combined in the U.S.

@PolarBearFinn @hjwakerley The clue is in the name "Limited Edition". Halo brand marketing. The LE was a UK-specific runout model for the G-Series 930 Turbo range. The 964 Carrera 4 was launched that year, and the 964 Turbo would not arrive until 1990.

@jonnycannon @hjwakerley 29 CTRs were built from new shells from 1987 on, and nearly the same number converted from Carrera 3.2s after the Euro 1 exhaust emissions for new cars was introduced in 1992. All CTRs had their rain gutters removed, another tell-tale that this car is not a real CTR.
