As I upgrade from my GTX 1050 2GB, to my Radeon 580 8GB, I am SUPER excited for the improved experience, but am afraid that I'll be saying goodbye to the Free-Cam feature. That means no more fun with making FANTASTIC shots of ME Catalyst, so these will be the last I've made.

@KnightsTomboy @accursedfarms @Spawn0fSparda I agree. I remember when Ross said in his Deus Ex Human Revolution review, that we would hate the yellow filter if every game had it. Yes, we would. But that's because those games weren't made with the yellow filter in mind. Human Revolution was.

@accursedfarms @Spawn0fSparda Filters can give a game a unique look. Most of the time a game designed with a filter in mind looks substantially less interesting without it.

Nvidia unveiled the worst feature for their videocards I've seen; the uncanny valley effect is awful. I'm not a purist, I don't think artistic direction is sacred, it's subjective and sometimes can be improved upon, but wow, I wouldn't trust this. youtube.com/watch?v=dJACkK…

@accursedfarms They seriously just slapped a filter over it and considered it more appealing.

@KazuyukiHoshino Also, aren't there totally locations like that? Even if there's not one that's exactly like this, it's pretty close.

That background was specially decorated for use in our live stream as a virtual studio which runs on Unreal Engine. I came up with the design, and a fellow artist rushed to put it together all by himself! Do you like it?😊

Always wondered where this wallpaper came from in sonic frontiers, if I remember right cifesk’s video didn’t cover this screenshot so maybe it’s from an uncovered build…? In the final game there aren’t any flowers and there’s no platforms around

@kamii_momoru Not even sure what the comparison here is. They both get the job done and look fine. Think this person is just looking for ragebait.

$400 million for a game that took 10 years to develop vs $60 million for a game that took no more than 5 years to develop

@kommanderkarl Call me crazy, but I believe Half Life 2 RTX affects graphics. Not gameplay or story.

@Pantamonte Not only is it obvious what every character/monster design is stealing from, but there's no confirming what we're seeing is actual gameplay, and isn't just a bunch of cutscenes.

@kommanderkarl @BuddOfCourse The gimmick is cool, but the cost of performance and storage space, when people were demanding it should just look like the original, is just not worth it, IMO.

@BuddOfCourse @kommanderkarl I remember when Half Life 2 RTX Remix demo launched, and it was way too bright and well-lit, compared to the grim atmosphere of the original that people loved. So they spent months manually tweaking everything to match the original more exactly. So then why even use PT?

@IanMitchell0 @kommanderkarl And are Ray Traced GI/Shadows 'better' than Pre-Rendered? Path Tracing might be more accurate/realistic, but they also lack any Art Direction that might diminish or exaggerate certain lighting conditions. Which developers would use in order to establish a specific atmosphere.

@accursedfarms This feels like a test you would run to further prove your argument about 80s/90s adventure games.

@GaimReady @accursedfarms If you've been following the Stop Killing Games movement, you'd know none of that is what they're asking for, and they mentioned how the frequent comparisons to the tech industry doesn't work the same for many reasons. I'd recommend watching his videos explaining all this stuff.

You would essentially have to either force the company to continue to support it, or force people to play it. This is not a successful business model on any front. I agree, if a company creates an online game that they should plan long term viability. But, games are not the only ones closing the doors early, tech companies do this all the time and no one bats an eye.

Highguard, a game with paid microtransactions, is being disabled. I'm glad I'm not collecting signatures for SKG anymore, since some people would equate game quality with whether you're entitled to consumer rights or not, not seeing the broader problem. vice.com/en/article/hig…

@GaimReady @accursedfarms It's not forcing players to play games they don't like. The problem is forcing players to stop playing games they enjoy. Especially if they already paid money on it (including microtransactions). You always have the choice and freedom to not play games you don't like.

I don’t get it. So we should all play the game even if we don’t like it because someone wants to play it? This has always been the way it works. Product’s fail and succeed on the merits and vision of their work. No one is obligated to give time or money if it isn’t enjoyed. You can complain about the discourse around it. But many products don’t last if it isn’t good. How many things disappear out of a grocery store because people don’t buy? You think they should keep it just because one person likes it?

@blackembers666 @accursedfarms That mentality might be even worse. Especially since most hard working developers that get fired don't decide how the game is developed. Those decisions are managed by the higher ups, who usually aren't that hurt by games failing. Devs sometimes get fired even if a game succeeds.

@IanMitchell0 @accursedfarms They’re not happy the customers don’t get to play it, they’re happy it was a financial disaster for the developers.

@accursedfarms Last year, I bought a copy of The Quiet Man, because Human Head Studios has a terrible reputation of delisting their own games. And I often like to preserve the interestingly bad ones for the memory and history.

@accursedfarms I'm so sick of people being glad when a game become unplayable. The mentality of "I don't want to play it, therefore NO ONE should get to play it" is messed up. Even if the majority don't like a game, the people who do like it are still entitled to their purchase.
