#Surgeons: It’s Time to Heal the Healer. Prof. Samuel Luboga, shared a vital message on the hidden crises in the surgical profession. Burnout is more than just fatigue—it's a systemic issue we can no longer ignore. The Reality Check: -Neglected Relationships: Our work shouldn't come at the cost of our closest bonds. -The Weight of Litigation: The fear of legal consequences is a heavy, silent burden. -Critical Stats: Burnout is real. Surgeons currently have the 2nd highest suicide rate in medicine. Prof. Luboga’s Recommendations: 1️⃣ Abandon the "Messiah Mentality." You are not a savior. Your exhaustion profits no one. 2️⃣ Restore Balance. You cannot save everyone. Boundaries protect your longevity. 3️⃣ Fuel Your Body. Prioritize hydration and a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. 4️⃣ Find Your Circle. Don’t suffer in silence. Get an accountability partner. Let’s start the conversation. How do you maintain balance in a high-pressure field? 👇 #Surgeons #MedicalBurnout #DoctorWellness #ASOUCONF2026 #MentalHealthInMedicine #SurgeonLife #MedicalProfessional #SelfCareForDoctors

I need seniors' opinions here🤔 MMed programs at universities Vs collegiate pathways (COSECSA, ECSACOG, COECSA, ECSACOP, ECSA…etc) Are we ready for such training shifts? Does @MinofHealthUG recognize these pathways or is it for show? 👀

The year has been challenging, but we have persevered. The research book is now on the supervisors’ desks (essentially in their email inboxes) and is almost approved to be sent to the examiners once the university resumes in January. Although the general public might not easily understand the degree I am pursuing, it represents a crucial step toward bridging the gap between biomedical science, clinical research, and bedside practice. My work in sickle cell disease serves as a foundational stone for understanding the cardiopulmonary physiology of these patients, which may seem trivial to everyday clinicians until it becomes significant. Every time I felt like losing hope, despite the resilience people believe I possess, I remembered a pivotal moment from my past. In 1999, after my father was killed, I was just a child. As I saw his body on the way to Masaka for the burial, I was uncertain about what had happened, but I knew I didn’t want to end up like him. I vowed to become different, and that commitment remains with me today. As we approach the new year, I want to apologize to anyone I may have inadvertently upset. Whether I attempted to foster understanding and belonging, my efforts to improve myself throughout 2024, or my unintentional interruptions in seeking guidance, I sincerely ask for your forgiveness. Please forgive this innocent soul. And when I reach out to you again in 2025, I hope you will welcome me—or at least help guide me to the right paths if you believe I have knocked on the wrong doors. Happy Holidays!
