Whatever follows “Needless to say …” suggests the person on the receiving end is so dense that what needs not saying must be said.

Spurs have the second best record in the league, way ahead of schedule. I’m sorry, but it’s indisputable that Wemby is the most valuable player. Not yet the best, but the most valuable by far.

I have a book idea for @dieworkwear that I genuinely believe would be a smash hit. Had the idea for years. If you know him, have him hit my DMs.

Self-actualization is having a fully stocked toiletry kit to throw in your gym bag or suitcase, never having to think about what need to take from your daily supply.

@RebuiltPt Similar but slightly simpler formula for me. 1-3 a bit slower than pace. 4-10 at pace (or a touch faster). 11-12 foot on the pedal. 13 everything I got.

For better or worse I personally view a half marathon as an 8 mile tempo + an 8k/~5mile race This usually look like: - Miles 1-2 ~5-10”/mi slower than goal pace - Miles 2-8 right at or below goal pace - Miles 8-13.1 right at or faster than goal pace For those who use metric: - 3k slightly slower than goal pace - 3-13k near goal pace - 13-21.1 km at or faster than goal pace Using this method I generally have a slight negative split. All my successful PR attempts have been run this way.

I just learned that the Big Apple grocery store on Clark St does not make their own old school paper signs they have in the windows. No back room, markers/stencils and rulers. They contract out these signs to a company in Skokie. And get new ones every week. I like the look of these. Throwback to the 50’s and 60’s.

@brookeleblanc I had the same fracture two years in a row. So frustrating, but I came back from it and ran Chicago + New York three weeks apart the following year. You got this.

MRI did not clear. Fracture in femur (again) and cancelling race calendar/travel commits (again). Playing the long game. This is an endurance sport, mentally and physically. Planning a full recovery and targeting a return to sport in 2027.

@susanamendoza10 I feel safe riding all of them. I stay aware but never scared. And I’m not with my kids at 2AM. But generally feel safe. Exact same on the New York subway as well. My teen kids are on the subway in chicago and New York - alone - all the time.

@IanSohn Good for you. My husband and I used to love riding the L with our son since he was obsessed with trains. Some of our best memories are of those rides with him. Would you mind sharing what lines you feel are safe that you enjoy riding? Honest question.

This video has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. This scary incident is not an isolated incident. Fortunately, it doesn't have to be this way and can be fixed. No parent would feel comfortable riding the CTA with their children as long as this behavior, now all too common on too many lines, continues. Too many Chicagoans rely on public transportation to get to and from work safely and affordably. Having to tolerate incidents like this is unacceptable. Hoping that by not making eye contact with the aggressor, you might get lucky enough to avoid getting hurt, is not a strategy for improving safety and increasing ridership on the CTA. It's also terribly unfair to working class people who can't afford safer transportation options. We need to restore control of our trains by getting Chicago police officers back on them, starting with the worst lines. I rode the Red Line last week, starting on 69th, and spoke with a woman who looked visibly scared. She said she no longer takes the EL because it's unsafe. Her car broke down, and after spending $150 in Uber rides over the prior 3 days, she couldn't afford another Uber ride to get back home from work so that's why she took the CTA. She took it out of desperation. This woman needs to work. She can't afford to lose her job. She is a taxpayer. She, and all Chicagoans and visitors to our city, deserve a clean, safe and reliable transportation system. This clearly mentally ill repeat offender, should not be on our trains, double-fisting hammers, making death threats, after already having been arrested 30 times. He needs mental health services and accountability. Everyone else needs clean, SAFE, reliable trains. It's not too much to ask. It's a bare minimum expectation.

You posted your run to Strava before you even stretched. Spent the next 20 minutes checking kudos. Still have no idea how the run actually felt. That's backwards.

@OldManFay12 I live in old town and have run into Michael Shannon many times. Nookies and Walgreens most frequently. Seems like a great guy.

One of my proudest moments as a Chicago resident was meeting Michael Shannon at Old Town Ale House at 2:30am and talking Chicago music with him while ripping cigs. All-time night

@SageCanaday I’m not even close to that pace, but I remember how herculean it felt to shave like 6 minutes off my 8th marathon vs my 7th.

I said it once and I’ll say it again: Most runners don’t realize (and some don’t seem to respect) how big of a chasm it is to go from say 2:30 in the marathon to 2:16…. [I’ve run 15 marathons between those time ranges]……
