“Far Right” means people who admire Hitler & hate non-white people. Such people do exist in the UK today, but there aren’t many of them (thank goodness). “Far Right” does NOT mean decent working-class people who don’t like Wokery & love their country & voted for Brexit.

Let's say, non-hypothetically, I wanted to write about sturgeon research and/or conservation in Europe for a fish-book-in-progress. Who would I talk to?

@CatharineHoey @YvetteCooperMP Dear me Ms Hoey. It is obvious and entirely normal for these two unrelated things to be true, as you know. So is this tweet trying to stoke up hate? I think so...

@navaratnampart1 Heartbreaking indeed. Stay safe and remember they do not represent the vast majority, who value you and your contribution.

Just seen my area is on a hit list for tomorrows racist riots. Thinking about the safety of my family and knowing there have been and will be so many others doing the same from Black and Asian communities. Heartbreaking.

@greenleejw And strangely his name lives on in one of the most serious threats to eels, the nematode parasite Anguillicola crassus. Found in the swimbladder, it can cause significant damage and may prevent migration of the infected eel.

@DrNeenaJha I am so sorry you have been made to feel this way in your own country. It's a national horror for many of us white British.

Witnessing all the violent racist attacks in England in utter disbelief & horror I was born & raised in England & have been a doctor in the NHS for over 15 years I’m British. Yet, for the first time, I feel I don’t belong in my own country and fear for my own & my kids’ safety due to the colour of our skin 😞

@Nikolaj_Bi What a thoughtful and thought provoking thread, thank you. Much of it reflects my own views. I suppose I have ended up on the other side, having seen so much that is not in the spirit of hunting and I find abhorrent, such as fox hunting. But I can see common ground.

I have at times confused people by criticizing types of hunting that I seem to defend elsewhere, and I want to explain how this makes sense to me. A thread about how I frame conservation ethics, hunting ethics and, most importantly here: "The Spirit of Hunting." 🧵1/29

@LizKershawDJ @glastonbury Imagine the furore if the uk government had bombed Belfast to the ground and killed over 30k people.. don't confuse a violent terrorist organisation with all the people who live in that country.

1/2 Imagine the furore in 80s if @glastonbury had sold Irish flags to wave while the IRA were bombing English cities And yet pro-Hamas merchandise is being sold at Glastonbury just 9 months since terrorist group attacked raped butchered & killed Jewish festival goers in Israel.

@Blacky_Himself @Feargal_Sharkey Division is a big part of 'our' problem. People on the same side attacking each other just makes the people causing the problem smile and rub their hands.

@Feargal_Sharkey “As big a part of the problem as the water companies”?!? You know I’m a big supporter of yours but that’s an utterly ridiculous statement Feargal. Why, rather than just articulating the point you have issue with, are you insulting and attacking people on your own side?

Oh dear. Yet another environment charity executive that has no idea what they're talking about and has clearly bought into the water industry bullish*t. As big a part of the problem as the water companies.

1st, what does the figure show? Sewers have overflows built in. These are intended to relieve pressure and stop sewage from flooding homes This is only allowed during exceptional rainfall In 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿, that is legally defined as more than 4mm an hour of rain; it is not defined in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

@IanWellby I do like your thinking Ian, but I'd probably wipe out the Mersey with the sediment contamination behind that.

Does anybody know of any indepth case studies for main river weir bypass channels? I am looking to bypass a 5m high weir with EA gauging station on my local river opening up an additional 10km of river habitat.

@wildveitch @JackPerksPhoto Hi. These are a highly invasive species and I would urge you to contact your local environment agency office and report their presence in the lake.

Hi @JackPerksPhoto, are you able to help us identify this species of fish found in our ornamental pond at work. Is it a native dace? Thanks!
