Polykrikos fires tiny harpoons to capture its prey. I've had so much fun creating all the interactions between cells for this game! Aggi's Tiny Friends releases on Steam on the 26th! #indiedev #protists #microbiology #madewithunity

US experience of private equity controlled hospitals. A pattern of profiteering, inadequate staffing, service cuts, diminished care. Yet UK govt is handing hospitals, GP surgeries to private equity. Say no to privatisation of the NHS. yaledailynews.com/blog/2024/11/2…

Excited to share some photos of 𝘙𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘢 𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘪, the second-largest flower in the world, measuring over a meter—just behind 𝘙𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘢 𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘪. #PinoyBotanist #FloraMalesiana

Tom’s class were told they could draw “any animal”. Cue cats, dogs and dinosaurs. Tom drew a “tardigrade under a microscope”. 🤣

Common candlesnuff fungus (Xylaria hypoxylon) looks interesting enough as it is. But I didn't realise it also fluoresces a brilliant blue in UV! Pardon poor image: hard to take good photo holding both camera and UV torch in low light! Glandford, TG04/VC27 East Norfolk, England.

A single 400-year-old ancient oak produces 234,000 litres of oxygen a year while soaking up carbon dioxide, and can support more than 2,000 species of bird, insect, fungus, and lichen. Nature is amazing - we need more of it, not less. RT if you agree 🌳

These are sandy earthtongue fungi (Sabuloglossum arenarium), fruiting on sand on the Findhorn Hinterland yesterday. This is a rare species & Findhorn is one of only sites in the UK where its presence has been confirmed. species.nbnatlas.org/species/BMSSYS…
