It is important to note while medics are busy minding universal healthcare some is minding universal emancipation of medics. So sad.

Dr. Joy Mugambi voted Secretary General of Commonwealth Medical assosiation.
The Commonwealth Medical Association (CMA) was established in 1962. Headquartered in BMA House, Tavistock square, London WC1H 9JP, United Kingdom, the Commonwealth Medical Association has 54 member nations in 6 global regions. It is a non-governmental organization whose main aim and objective is to assist and strengthen the capacities of National Medical Associations of countries within the Commonwealth so to improve the health and wellbeing of their communities.
The CMA Council is the highest decision making body of the Association. It consist of the Executive of the Association and The President or Chief Executive Officer of each member association. The Executive officers comprise of the President, Immediate Past President, Regional Vice Presidents, Secretary General, and the Treasurer.
As President of @KenyaMedics_KMA @simonkigondu represents the Association in the CMA Council, I was thus honored to attend the hybrid 27th Biennial Conference of CMA, held on November 8th to 10th 2024, hosted by the India Medical Association in Chennai. During the Council Session the Kenya Medical Association nominee, Dr Joy Mugambi was elected by a landslide as the new Secretary General of the Commonwealth Medical Association. Dr Joy Mugambi takes over from Prof J. A. Jayalal of the India Medical Association who takes over as President of CMA from Dr Muruga Raj of @malaysianmedic1. Dr Joy Mugambi has diligently served CMA for two terms as the Vice President East, Central and South African Region since being nominated into CMA by KMA. Dr Colin Abel of Jamaica becomes the Treasurer.
Dr. Kauma Roy Tolopu was elected to serve as Vice President East, Central and South African Region taking over from Dr Joy Mugambi in this capacity. Dr Roy is the President the @ZmaZambia and a friend of KMA. He supported the election of @mdjkitulu as @medwma earlier on last month in Helsinki, Finland at the World Medical Association General Assembly.
Having Dr Joy Mugambi as the SG @commonwdoctors , Dr Roy as the VP ECSA CMA, and Dr Mary Coleman of Ghana as VP West Africa Reigon and backed up by the past president of CMA and WMA @drenabulele, The Coalition of Afrcan National Medical Associations (CANMA) @CANMA_Africa is well represented at CMA. CANMA elections are coming up in a week.
A big congratulations to Dr Joy Mugambi & KMA and Dr Kauma Roy Tolopu & ZMA.
The road to the @commonwdoctors Presidency continues
