In 2012, I was fresh out of college and I went to China for the Canton Fair. My parents allowed me travel overseas alone for the first time in my life and I was excited. I decided that I will Eat Healthy Oyibo Food so on day number 3 I ate SHRIMP 🍤, I grew up in Bauchi and Abuja as a Child so I have never eaten seafood. To cut the long story short, I am eternally grateful to The Chinese for building an Efficient society and training their people to be Responsive. I didn’t know I was allergic to SEAFOOD, I couldn’t breathe, my Airway was blocked in less than 2 minutes of eating Shrimp 🦐. For the next 2 days, I couldn’t go anywhere, So Now I am an advocate of “EAT WHAT YOU KNOW” because if you get an Allergic Reaction in a wrong country, you may not survive it.

I was applying for this and then took a pause to calculate again: You want 3 videos per day (90 in total), and the person must stay in close communication during travel days (every of the 30 days), moving fast and turning content around quickly. This is a 2-in-1 role (plus creative directions, which is separately tasking with a cost on its own). I don’t even have problem with multitasking. But even if a video editor is agreeing to this slavery at the cost of editing each video at 20k (which is way below industry price even in Nigeria alone), 3 videos editing job per day at N60k is N1.8m for the 90 videos excluding creative direction. And you’re offering 500k - 1m naira for the video editing job which includes creative directions? That’s you basically paying 10-11k per each video editing and directions. And you are living abroad? Man you fucking won’t do this Canada. It’s really NOT fair. You are dangerously wicked, my God! WTH? This is exploitation and you know people will willingly accept this in Nigeria because this is where everyone comes to get quality Labour for cheap. We have not even factored fuel cost because this fast paced job requires an editor to be online and connected 24/7 but the reality here to achieve that is costly. Ok, so you pay 30k for 3 videos (daily) and I use 15k buy fuel and data to work on the videos, meaning I’ll keep 15k as my profit for editing 3 videos? And na you still get contents to monetize o. You are a thief and NOT a good person aje😭 One idiot will come and give excuse now and say that it’s a fair pay because the money big for mouth. But do you know the stress that exactly goes into the shortest form of video editing?
