@MatthewAguilar5 I liked The Professor. I remember my brother just thought "Azumah" was a "good, American name" so we were the horrible traitors who cheered for him in the bouts against Jesse Jame Leija (which I always pronounced like the intro to Hee-Haw).

@MatthewAguilar5 I was in my 2nd year of college and working at a place in Cielo Vista Mall called Suncoast. We had the game on our TVs as did Radio Shack next door. When the buzzer sounded people all over the mall cheered.

34 years ago Mar 22: @UTEP_MBB, led by coach Don Haskins, shocks Roy Williams & 2nd-ranked Kansas 66-60 in second round of NCAA 🏀 tourney. Top scorer Johnny “Smooth” Melvin scores 18, while Marlon Maxey adds 14 and Ralph Davis 12. It remains the Miners’ last tourney victory.

Imagine a conference with High Point, Grand Canyon, Cal Baptist, Charleston, Belmont, Dayton, Liberty, Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, VCU. It would make so much sense to create a conference out of these universities, for non-football and then shift LU football back to independent.

Oscar was a force that carried the sport for more than a decade, sought out the toughest challenges and participated in superfight after superfight - winning most of them. He transcended the sport in many ways - not just fighting ability.

Yeah bro. Football needs to be in a conference, even CUSA. We get TV dollars by being in a conference. The Olympic sports need better travel. Being independent is a disaster. So yes. I’m disappointed but lots of UNM fans have dumb solutions for NMSUs issues, no offense buddy.
