Honoured to participate as a panelist at the National Symposium on Customs Reform 2026, held on the occasion of International Customs Day at Vigyan Bhawan. The discussions reinforced a critical point: Customs reform is central to India’s global economic trajectory. With the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of building a USD 500 billion electronics manufacturing ecosystem including USD 180–200 billion in exports by FY 2031, India is entering a decisive phase of scale. Achieving this ambition will require border systems that are as robust and future-ready as our manufacturing capabilities. In high-value sectors such as electronics, speed, predictability, and reliability at ports and air cargo complexes directly influence global supply chain decisions. As export volumes multiply, our logistics and Customs architecture must handle higher throughput efficiently and consistently. The reform measures reflected in the Union Budget 2026–27, including Auto LEO, system-based e-scheduling, deeper digitisation, and trust-based frameworks, mark a structural shift toward risk-based, technology-led facilitation. As industry, we remain committed to constructive engagement with the Government and Customs authorities to strengthen export competitiveness, reduce transaction friction, and build globally aligned systems. India has the scale, talent, and ambition to lead. With uniform, system-driven implementation across gateways, we can move beyond participation and anchor global electronics value chains. @cbic_india @FinMinIndia @nsitharaman @WCO_OMD @PankajMohindroo @ICEA_India

The third tranche of approvals under ECMS marks a clear shift from intent to industrial momentum in India’s electronics components ecosystem. With ₹41,863 crore of fresh investments, 22 new projects, and nearly 34,000 direct jobs, this tranche more than doubles the production potential of the earlier rounds, a strong indicator that component manufacturing in India is now scaling with confidence and depth. What is especially significant is the range of components and sub-assemblies being approved from PCBs, lithium-ion cells and connectors to camera and display modules and critical materials. These are among the most import-intensive layers of the value chain. Strengthening them is essential for deep manufacturing, supply-chain resilience, and meaningful local value addition. The geographic spread across eight states further reinforces the emergence of a distributed, nationally integrated electronics manufacturing ecosystem. As we begin the New Year, ECMS is demonstrating how policy design, industry response and execution discipline can come together to translate vision into capacity on the ground. India is steadily moving beyond assembly towards globally competitive components manufacturing. I would like to congratulate Amber Enterprises India Limited, @TataElectronics , @DixonTechnology , Motherson Group, @ATLBatteryIndia, TDK india, Yuzhan technology India Private Limited, India Circuits, and others that have received approvals under this tranche of ECMS for their commitment to strengthening India’s electronics components ecosystem. At ICEA, we remain committed to working closely with @GoI_MeitY , state governments and industry stakeholders to ensure these approvals convert swiftly into production, jobs and globally relevant manufacturing capability. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 is about fresh beginnings as well as about approaching the road ahead with clarity and commitment. It is a moment to recognise that lasting progress is built through steady effort, honest learning, recalibration, and the willingness to improve step by step. India’s electronics manufacturing journey reflects this very approach. 𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬. We are making definitive strides in deepening local value addition and integrating India into global value chains, moving the industry closer to global competitiveness and resilience. At the same time, this is a phase of learning and consolidation. Building capability across design, engineering, components, and advanced manufacturing requires time, talent, and sustained investment. Initiatives like Make in India and Design in India are long-term commitments, not milestones to be rushed, and their success will depend on how consistently we strengthen the foundations beneath them. As the ecosystem matures, it is also high time to focus on building Indian champions, not only in finished electronic goods such as mobile devices, but across the wider electronics supply chain, including EMS components, sub-assemblies, and enabling technologies. Global relevance will come from scale combined with capability, and from Indian enterprises that can compete, innovate, and lead across domains. As we step into the year ahead, the emphasis must remain on execution with humility, collaboration with intent, and growth anchored in realism. It is the accumulation of small, disciplined advances year after year that ultimately builds strength, credibility, and global standing. HP laptops, soon to be #MadeInTamilNadu ! Another big day for #electronics manufacturing in #TamilNadu! Today in the presence of Honourable @CMOTamilNadu Thiru. @MKStalin avargal, Dixon Technologies has signed an MoU for a brand-new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Oragadam near Chennai with an investment of Rs. 1000 crores in which they will be manufacturing laptops. This facility is expected to create over 5,000 new jobs — a massive win for Tamil Nadu’s youth and our continued efforts to drive industrial growth. Dixon’s leadership acknowledged what we’ve always believed: Tamil Nadu’s progressive policies, robust infrastructure, highly skilled workforce and above all ease of doing business at a fast pace make it the most attractive destination for manufacturing in India. Under the visionary leadership of Honourable Chief Minister Thiru. @MKStalin avargal, we are building a USD 100 billion electronics manufacturing ecosystem — and every factory we launch is a step closer to that dream. Welcome to Tamil Nadu, Dixon, HP and all the other brands whose devices will now be manufactured here in TN ! #JobsForTN #InvestInTN
