A Call to Reflect: The Death of Brigadier-General O. Braimah The moment I heard of the killing of yet another soldier, Brigadier-General O. Braimah, who was killed alongside other army personnel in a Boko Haram attack at Benisheikh, I was quickly reminded of what other countries commit to when it comes to rescuing their endangered soldiers on the battlefield. Such unfortunate incidents serve as a clarion call for all of us to reflect more deeply on the value we place on the lives of all citizens, including those who stand in defence of our nation, and on the urgent need to strengthen our collective resolve in safeguarding them. May God grant his dear wife, the families of all the fallen soldiers, and indeed all those who lost their lives in the incident, the fortitude to bear this painful loss. May their souls rest in peace, in honour of their supreme sacrifice for the nation. -PO

U.S. Security Alarm on Nigeria: A Bad Omen The recent directive by the United States to evacuate its embassy staff from Nigeria due to rising insecurity is deeply worrisome and should be treated as a national emergency, especially for a country already struggling to attract investors. Nigeria currently ranks fourth in the Global Terrorism Index, yet insecurity continues to worsen - lives are being lost and communities remain under constant threat. There is a glaring absence of effective governance; instead, what prevails are schemes that undermine democratic processes, as though politics has taken precedence over the safety of citizens. The U.S. directive is a clear signal of declining confidence in our national security architecture. Disturbingly, reports indicate the loss of yet another Army Brigadier General to terrorists in Borno earlier today. A nation where people cannot live, work, worship, or travel safely cannot progress or attract investment. The primary duty of any government is the protection of lives and property, yet in this regard, we as leaders have fallen short over the years. Our failure continues to place immense strain on our troops, who make the ultimate sacrifices. Sadly, as Nigeria deteriorates, we as leaders, like Nero, remain preoccupied with politics, forgetting that without security, there is no nation to govern and no future to campaign for. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

In Military School, many of us wanted to finish and join the Army in NDA. We loved army job as we always refer to it as "Rugged Job" We believe they are very gallant, rugged and good-to-go. We felt Airforce was too gentle and army was more rugged to get the job done. Unfortunately, my once beloved Army job, which used to be a rugged job and now become a WAWA JOB. It has become so compromised and incompetent that all you get is lies and propaganda every time. APC Government gave finished and relegated this once outstanding force. Generals are being slaughtered like goats. Personnels, who joined the job for the love of it are continually being slaughtered by terrorists. No motivation, no adequate resources, no juicy compensation to the families of brave troops who die in service, many of them are Jihadists and terrorists sympathisers. While a counter assault should follow those bastards do they'd know the crime of killing generals, the @HQNigerianArmy big boys will come to tell us that Boko Haram, Fulani Jihadists terrorists are their brothers and family members and should be romanced instead of raining fire on them. Oh, Army Job, how are thou fallen! APC Government destroyed the Nigerian Army. Buhari, you shall forever rot in hell!!!

DHQ PRESS RELEASE TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI SUCCESSFULLY REPEL TERRORIST ATTACK IN BENISHEIKH In continuation of the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s (AFN) counter terrorism efforts, troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade in Operation HADIN KAI came under a coordinated terrorist attack on their location at the Brigade Headquarters in Benisheikh, Borno State. The attack occurred at approximately 0030hrs (12:30am) on Thursday, 9 April 2026, as insurgents attempted to breach the defensive perimeter of the military installation. However, the troops, led by the Commander 29 Brigade, Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, responded with exceptional courage, professionalism, and superior firepower. In a well-coordinated counteraction, the insurgents were decisively engaged and forced to retreat in disarray, abandoning their mission and leaving behind traces of their failed assault. This attack is a clear indication of the desperation of terrorist elements who, having suffered significant losses in recent operations, continue to resort to futile and ill-fated offensives against well-defended military positions. The swift and decisive response by troops underscores the high level of combat readiness, resilience, and operational effectiveness of Operation HADIN KAI in safeguarding critical locations and maintaining pressure on terrorist groups across the North-East theatre. Regrettably, the encounter resulted in the loss of a few brave and gallant soldiers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede, honours their heroism, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the defence of the nation. Their courage will forever remain a source of pride and inspiration to the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the entire nation. The High Command extends its deepest condolences to their families and loved ones. In line with established military tradition and respect for the fallen, the general public and media are kindly requested to allow the Armed Forces to formally notify the next of kin before the release of further details. The public is also urged to disregard misinformation, sensational reports, and unverified content circulating across social media platforms, as these undermine ongoing operations and national security efforts. The Armed Forces of Nigeria, in collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders, remain resolute and undeterred in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency. Additional clearance and exploitation operations are ongoing in the general area to track and neutralize fleeing insurgents, as well as to deny them any opportunity to regroup. The Chief of Defence Staff, commends the bravery, discipline, and steadfastness of the troops, whose sacrifices continue to ensure the safety, stability, and sovereignty of Nigeria. Their dedication in one of the most challenging operational environments reaffirms the Armed Forces’ commitment to restoring lasting peace in the North-East and across the country. The general public is encouraged to continue supporting the Armed Forces through timely and credible information that can aid ongoing operations. Citizens are urged to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding as security forces sustain momentum in ongoing operations. Further updates will be provided as necessary. You went to a mall for shopping. While you're standing at the counter, ready to pay for all the things you have bought, a beautiful girl walks in. She picks up a few items and comes to the counter. After the bill is calculated, she starts searching her purse for her ATM card but can't find it. Meanwhile, you have paid your bill and you're about to take your leave. Then the lady taps your shoulder and says, “Wait, are you just going to walk away? Can't you help me pay for what I just got? Isn't that the gentlemanly thing to do?” What will be your response?

Do you know that it is your legal duty to assist a police officer in arresting an offender where it is clear that the officer is being overpowered and calls for help? The duty of a citizen to assist law enforcement is recognized under Nigerian law. Under the Criminal Code Act, individuals are generally expected to aid in the prevention of crime and the enforcement of the law. Related provisions also criminalise acts such as resisting or obstructing a public officer. However, the specific duty to assist a police officer, as well as the punishment for failing to do so, is expressly provided under the Police Act 2020. By virtue of Section 99 of the Police Act 2020: Any person who, when lawfully called upon, refuses or neglects to assist a police officer in the execution of his duty commits an offence. Upon conviction, such a person is liable to: A fine of ₦100,000 or Imprisonment for a term of three (3) months or Both fine and imprisonment. It is important to note that this duty is not absolute, your safety comes first. A person is only expected to assist where: The request is reasonable, and Assistance can be rendered without exposing oneself to serious danger. Furthermore: A real risk to life or safety may justify refusal The police officer must have actually called for assistance, and The situation must warrant such assistance, such as where the officer is being overpowered Related Duty: Section 42 of the same Act also mandates citizens to help law enforcement in arresting or preventing the escape of suspects, while Section 98 punishes those who obstruct officers.

Nigerian poet and playwright, John Pepper Clark (1935-2020), was a research fellow at the University of Ibadan who fell in love and decided to marry Ebun Odutola, an assistant lecturer. However, Ebun's father, Alhaji Jimoh Odutola, would not agree to have his daughter marry a non-Yoruba, so the couple eloped to Dahomey (now the Republic of Benin) on April 4, 1964, where they got married. The next day, they returned to Nigeria and resumed their normal life on campus. They went on to have four children. #HistoryVille

Trump is teaching a thing about modern warfare and I hope other world leaders are paying attention. When the search and rescue team were unable to locate the ejected airman after hours of searching, Trump suspended everything, moved away from the public and summoned his security team to an emergency meeting. He controlled and monitored the search right from Washington for over 7 hours. No media. Just pure commitment. He was on ground to communicate directly and give orders easily when needed. He only returned to the public after the safe evacuation of the airman. This is leadership. This is passion. This is commitment. Trump just showed the world how important the life of a US soldier is.
