@mattthewaffler @geekedliekb4 Well just because a story gets retcon doesn’t make it bad. Just look at how many times The Flash got retconed and people still love Barry’s story. I think the main reason why jjk story doesn’t resonate well with many is cuz it’s not a linear story.

@amiguello1 @the6eyed How can you not care about lore but want a good story? A good story makes you want to understand the lore. Either you didn’t understand the culling games or you didn’t finish it.

@Iconic_Dontae @the6eyed I don't care about lore "importance" or whatever I just want a good story. Ofc Culling Arc ties in with various things in the story, the execution is just mid.

I think a problem people have with JJK is that the plot feels disconnected, particularly with the culling game, but once you look at the story holistically, all the pieces come together. The stage for the CG is being set as early as chapter one.

@amiguello1 @the6eyed Don’t know if you read modulo but culling games is probably the most important arc in the series. That single event changed everything, even 70 years later

@the6eyed The problem is that it's a poorly written manga by a guy that just wanted to draw "cool fights" who had nothing interesting to communicate. The culling game's issue isn't that it isn't properly foreshadowed or whatever, but that the fights are disconnected and amount to nothing.

None, I believe all of these (besides Solo Leveling), are amazing, but the benchmark they left isn't that high. If I had to word the benchmark, it would be... Solo Leveling (bottom) Pokèmon (mid) One Piece (peak) Any anime can fit between these 3 bars. Dandadan is between mid-peak --> good/amazing ≠ perfect. You could swap AOT for One Piece, and I wouldn't complain regardless. AOT is peak war horror in my opinion, while One Piece is more wholesome in comparison.
