When you think about what could have been. The joy of growing up with your folks. Seeing your parents whenever you want to. The big family Christmas/Eid-el-Kabir gatherings, the incomparable owambes. An average Nigerian just wants a good decent life. Is that too much to ask for?
👑S.A.L.A.K.O🕊@UnkleAyo

You think I'm happy living abroad? I have a family I grew up with, whom I love with all of my heart - and the reality keeps dawning on me, on how many times I will see them before I one day turn 60. People I saw daily, or once a month - I haven't seen in years, and would realistically only see once a year, going forward. You think I'm happy? That one day, I might end up having children and my siblings might not have the relationship with them - the relationship I had with my uncles, in my formative years? I remember clearly how they would take us to MrBiggs every Sunday - I am currently reliving the flavour from that meatpie. How we would go to the family house in Ikeja, every year for Eid. The grandchildren uniforms, the snacks while watching your uncles slaughter rams. You think I'm happy that I might one day lead a family of children who might not know their version of that? WTF will I be doing in another man's land, if I did everything they asked me to do from childhood (face your studies, be exceptional, stay away from crime, be hardworking) and opportunities lined up for me to be the best I could, in my motherland? WTF will I be doing here? Why will I condescend myself to living in a clime where I have to mentally switch from sun burning weather to teeth clenching winter - when I came from a land where I never needed gloves? You think I'm happy? If I could do honest work, be on my way home and not have to bother about the risk of getting shot by the people meant to protect me, because I have some lines of tattoos on my body - you think I would leave? If I could trust a justice system to defend me, ensure my rights even though I am a nobody - have trustworthy institutions banking on the highest standards, not have to worry about the bread I eat, the fake drinks from the club or streets, the fake drugs - you think I would leave? Don't get me wrong. I am grateful for the opportunities this clime has given me, to test my limits - to be everything I thought I could be. But all of these, in replacement for the soul I grew up with? You know the satisfaction that settled within me when I could wake up on a Saturday morning, stroll to the Iya wanke's place - relish an entire plate, or some ewa agonyin while watching children battle it out, in a 5 v 5 across the streets. That communal living that relished my soul, is now replaced with silent streets and finely divided sealed terraces. You walk through the city centres in the evenings - you see friends having an aperitif (they do so every evening), you see grandfathers meeting up with their children, you see entire families with extended families living across the streets, first cousins are even able to use the same gym and you remember what that looked like for you back home? You think of all your friends scattered across continents, some you might never get to hug again. For a lot of diasporans, you don't want Nigeria to work more than us. A lot of us want to come home, but what is home? Where is home? When will home feel like home? I hope to continue living life without lack, in comfort, with accomplished dreams - but I want to do so, with soul. When I die one day, I want to do so - with soul.

@monsieur_avril How can I share the same nationality with people like this. In essence, anyone can wake up, start terrorising and unaliving people and be later pardoned and reintegrated back to the society because they have changed 😭🤦🏽‍♂️. Are these elders cursed or what? Who are these ediots?

Full grown adults who can’t vacation, take a gap year, have hobbies, play an instrument, speak multiple languages, swim, cycle, skate, or backpack. Just a lifetime of hustling and trying to escape survival mode. These are subtle poverty metrics no one really talks about.

I would rather have a fair, just, and developed society under a Christian/Muslim ticket than chaos, corruption, insecurity, poverty, unemployment, economic collapse, etc., under a Muslim/Muslim ticket. If Obi/Kwankwaso will salvage Nigeria from imminent collapse, they have my vote. We must look beyond religion and tribe if we truly want a better Nigeria.

@Emmanuelson_Jr @neduwazobia This is arguably the only Nigerian politician who has consistently used the mantra “go and verify” and till date no one has been able to prove him wrong. Peter Obi is who he says he is a million times. We miss this man again in 2027 and we can kiss Nigeria goodbye

TO @PeterObi: You did the right thing this morning. Walking out of the ADC took courage. It also took clarity. You named what most Nigerians have been afraid to name — that the same state and its agents that captured Labour Party in 2023 captured the ADC in 2026. Same machine. Different jersey. That is the truth. And you said it out loud. For that, you deserve commendation. Not endorsement — commendation. Because you took a step in the right direction, and steps in the right direction are rare in Nigerian politics. Now keep going. Let APC and ADC split the Caliphate vote between themselves. Let the men who built this cage fight over who gets to sit on the throne. They have the same owners. They will end with the same outcome. You have a different road open to you now. The road of the people. Millions of displaced Nigerians have no voice. Give them one. Make sure they have a vote. Millions are crying for self-determination. Give them a real pathway. Put it on the ballot. Call for a new constitution. Not an amendment. A new one — written by the people, ratified by the people. The 1999 document is a colonial contraption that mentions Sharia 165 times and Christianity zero. It is the scaffolding the Caliphate stands on. Tear it down. Call for a free 2027 election under international supervision. Not INEC. Not the agents who hounded you out of two parties. The world. Do not compromise. The world is watching. Be the champion Nigerians need to end this 66-year nightmare. Sir, you have left the machine. Now join the people and help dismantle it. #EarthShaker

My advice to you young men and women. Take the 2027 elections seriously. Face it as if your life depends on it. You're fighting for the soul of your country. Do it peacefully but fearlessly. Shun any attempt to bribe you with money, food, etc, to sell your conscience & future. Support your candidate of your choice. For me & my household, our support would go to Peter Obi and Kwankwaso. It doesn't matter which political party you support. Let whoever wins the presidential election be seen to have won freely, fairly and credibly. When Buhari won in 2015, most of us didn't feel cheated. We were happy but we later got disappointed. I believe that Buhari won the 2015 elections, and that was why we all had to suffer our fate. For 2023, it was marred by alot of violence, doubts and credibility. But since our court had certified that the election was won by Tinubu, I'll not say that he is not the President (by law). He's going to contest the 2027 elections as a sitting president. If he wins freely and fairly, we would accept it. And no one would have to go to court to contest it. End.

Fellow Nigerians, good morning. I woke up this morning after my church service with a deeply reflective heart, and despite every constraint, I felt compelled to share these thoughts with you. Many people do not truly understand the silent pains some of us carry daily—the private struggles, emotional burdens, and quiet battles we face while trying to survive and serve sincerely in difficult circumstances. We now live in an environment that has become increasingly toxic, where the very system that should protect and create opportunities for decent living often works against the people—a society where intimidation, insecurity, endless scrutiny, and discouragement have become normal. More painful is when some of those you associate with, believing you would find understanding and solidarity among them, become part of the pressure you face. Some who publicly identify with you privately distance themselves or join in unfair criticism. We live in a society where humility is mistaken for weakness, respect is seen as a lack of courage, and compassion is treated as foolishness—a system where treating people equally is questioned simply because you refuse to worship status, tribe, class, or power. Personally, I have never looked down on anyone except to uplift them. I have never used privilege, position, or resources to oppress others, intimidate the weak, or make people feel small. To me, leadership has always been about service, sacrifice, and helping others rise. Let me state clearly: my decision to leave the ADC is not because our highly respected Chairman, Senator David Mark, treated me badly, nor because my leader and elder brother, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, or any other respected leaders did anything personally wrong to me. I will continue to respect them. However, the same Nigerian state and its agents that created unnecessary crises and hostility within the Labour Party that forced me to leave now appear to be finding their way into the ADC, with endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division, instead of focusing on deeper national problems and playing politics built more on control and exclusion than on service and nation-building. Even within spaces where one labours sincerely, one is sometimes treated like an outsider in one’s own home. You and your team become easy targets for every failure, frustration, or misunderstanding, as though honest contribution has become a favour being tolerated rather than appreciated. And when you choose to leave so that those you are leaving can have peace, and you step out into the cold, you are still maligned and your character is questioned. Despite all your efforts to continue working for a better Nigeria and engaging people with sincerity and goodwill, those who do not wish you well continue to attack your character and question your intentions. There are moments I ask God in prayer: Why is doing the right thing often misconstrued as wrongdoing in our country? Why is integrity not valued? Why is the prudent management of resources, especially when invested in critical areas like education and healthcare, wrongly labelled as stinginess? Why are humility and obedience to the rule of law often taken to be weakness rather than discipline? Let me assure all that I am not desperate to be President, Vice President, or Senate President. I am desperate to see a society that can console a mother whose child has been kidnapped or killed while going to school or work. I am desperate to see a Nigeria where people will not live in IDP camps but in their homes. I am desperate for a country where Nigerian citizens do not go to bed hungry, not knowing where their next meal will come from. Yet, despite everything, I remain resolute. I firmly believe that Nigeria can still become a country with competent leadership based on justice, compassion, and equal opportunity for all. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

@Jesutiseh @UnkleAyo If for anything I doubt PO, the fact that the likes of EFCC, ICPC till date has nothing on this man speaks huge volumes. A politician with the kind of influence that man has. We are just too divided and stupid to know who are for us and against us as citizens. It is well.

Everyone is refreshing Peter Obi's timeline. His acclaimed haters, more. Very interesting. By far, the most influential African politician. Should he win 2027, Nigeria will come under new light in terms of Africa's politics. Just maybe, we start getting respected again.
