@BrothersPovi@DoomKnightAC The scenarios aren't the same; our Eve was on an alien planet alone with her child and her "Dead" boyfriend's brother, his wife, and their friend/boss. Teilia introduced her to her brother, and they hit it off.
@snipa018@Kakapolover1@ATLienMJ I don't think the devil fruit is giving him 1 to 1 properties of light. I think Kizaru would need to awaken his fruit to actually achieve true light speed. He's probably just capable of lightning-level movement when he's actually made of light, which is 1/3rd the speed of light
@IkeaBorn@Kakapolover1@ATLienMJ So how fast do you think someone like kizaru is whos entire thing is light? Is oda just capping about his devil fruit and powers?
@snipa018@Kakapolover1@ATLienMJ listen my problem is not that they aren't exploding or whatever, but that someone fast should also be able to cross distances quickly. The greater the speed, the greater the distance. If there is a disconnect between those principals I argue the character is not that fast
@Ryedds@Meep2much@Brizksie@luishsccp this not bad art for the first time in his life, he walked away from the chaos of being a superhero. He has been washing his face every day, taking care of his hair, and moisturizing he got his eyebrows done, that's just a primped-up mark
@Ryedds@Brizksie@luishsccp this is a picture of mark getting very emotional after thinking about the fact he missed 5 years of his childs life right after he told here he'd be there for her every step of the way its not bad its displaying the emotion its meant to a deep ugly gut wrenching cry
@YoNipplesSoft This is kinda messed up, the co-creator of Invincible draws the character like how he is in the show, and he's the guy who made the designs for the show your basically saying they should've told the guy co-responsible for the entire thing to kick rocks
@Kakapolover1@ATLienMJ The Flash still out-hax pretty much every popular character via his ability to time-travel alone; if he wanted to, you could suddenly be fighting a time-displaced clone army of Flashes not to mention the more nuclear option of time travel
@tonka6678@ProxyFreak Except when you make rules specifically to ignore outliers, then you don't get to say that powerscalers use outliers correctly.
Combat vs travel speed and striking vs lifting strength were both created to ignore antifeats and use outliers.
Its certainly easier this way, but the end result is the characters fighting dont really FEEL like the characters themselves anymore. If Joseph Joestar suddenly started punching buildings to pieces & lapping the earth in 0.1 second in his fight with Kars, it would feel very wrong
When I was a kid we called it Battleboarding, and the consensus method was to calculate an aggregate of a characters best & worst feats to find the most reasonable upper ceiling of their stats. Nowadays powerscalers just highball everything & compare the biggest numbers.
(1/2)
@ITOOKTHET0P0FF@ieatgunpowder@redacted_fan1@ATLienMJ I would argue that it simply provides evidence for why the character isnt moving that fast and why disconnecting the two is simply a means to hype up characters beyond their narrative
@IkeaBorn@ieatgunpowder@redacted_fan1@ATLienMJ this is why travel speed vs combat speed exists. for most stories the powerscale grows so absurd but the framework of the story wouldnt work if everyone can go anywhere in the galaxy in .1 secs
@Kakapolover1@ATLienMJ any character who cant actually travel at ftl speeds it doesnt matter which if only their attacks are faster than light but their actual mass is tethered to sub-light speed, then the Flash just travels them somewhere dangerous, or he just travels outside the range of their attack
@Kakapolover1@ATLienMJ You know what, bro, it doesn't matter. FTL travel speed characters like the Flash and Superman still solo these combat speed only ftl characters, you know, since they can only punch and kick at the speed of light and not actually move that fast
@IkeaBorn@ATLienMJ Half of scaling is metaphysics. The lower scaling bounds can have calcs but you are arguing that authors care about physics which is factually incorrect. Friction, air resistance, pressure and momentum arent taken into account in most fictional works' powersystem.
@snipa018@Kakapolover1@ATLienMJ dude the conservation of momentum is applied to every object that moves explicitly, authors don't need some advanced PhD level of understanding of it its a core tenet of how they interact with the world, ALWAYS, they know how it works
@Kakapolover1@ATLienMJ We were not talking esoteric physics. If something goes fast, it goes far. Something faster goes farther. Something fastest goes the furthest. These are toddler-level observations. You're trying to tie this to advanced light speed interactions and disqualify them both
@IkeaBorn@ATLienMJ Authors leave them out all the time because its fiction. Thats the point. Characters dodge literal light yet they dont collapse into kugelblitzes. Real physics isnt an aim for these series so conservation of momentum isnt relevant for their scaling unless specifically brought up
@Kakapolover1@ATLienMJ No they can skip the non important stuff what they cannot skip is the fact that if a character thats ftl jumped straight up to dodge not travel so at ftl that speed should carry them further than the boundaries of the planet theyre on thats physics so basic a toddler could get it
@IkeaBorn@ATLienMJ Yeah and reaching ftl speeds requires infinite energy. I dont think dismissing friction or momentum is unheard of. Combat and Travel speeds are different no matter what unless the author creates a system or makes statements to make them derive from eachother.
@Kakapolover1@ATLienMJ appeal to reality? Conservation of momentum? Are you seriously trying to argue the conservation of momentum is too real for it to be assumed authors appeal to it? It's a basic tenet of exsiting in a physical universe not some niche quirk that activates when a character goes fast
@IkeaBorn@ATLienMJ Its already impossible to do that so appeal to reality with momentum conservation doesnt really work. Most authors dont really care either so you wont find feats like this even if the character is explicitly fast enough for it.
