Yes I’ll admit That post about Caesarian section triggered me Because I’m a woman who was in labour for 40 hours I was given the maximum dose of oxytocin three times to induce labour and did not dilate beyond 2cm I was so mentally prepared to push out a human but my body just wouldn’t Which one should I talk about? The intense pain ripping through me every few minutes? Should I talk about how excruciating it is to have doctors check you for dilation while you’re actively in labour? Should I talk about the exhaustion? Should I talk about how that when those who have vaginal delivery have long forgotten CS moms are still grappling with wounds and pain and numbness and tingling from the anaesthetsia? I had my baby in Canada and the nurses kept asking me if I wanted a pain relief I did not want any drug to interfere I was ready to bear the pain and I did I think I have the most supportive husband in the world. He stood there every second with me. Holding my hand. Wincing as Pain coursed through me But he did not feel the pain. Not the physical one. I did. So has every woman who has gone through this When the doctors saw that my contractions were not the “good type”, they said I could get a uterine rupture, I had to be taken for a CS. And everyday I’m grateful to God for the miracle of a CS That a mother who has given her all can still have her baby and they both be fine So sir, when you have had contractions for 40 hours When you have had 7 layers of your body sliced open so you can bring forth children When you have gone months nursing a wound that is layers deep When you’ve been placed on a cold surgical table and cut 7 layers deep For some 4 times. Then come back and have this Conversation with me Thank God for your mother and the long line of women in your family that had vaginal deliveries. But no two women are the same. Don’t put that burden on the woman you would marry. A CS is not a shortcut A CS does not make a woman weak A CS does not happen because you did not pray enough or you’re unlucky A CS is a medical miracle so that women like me especially pre term moms, can come out alive from the mystery that is pregnancy and childbirth Blessings.

“One of my friends got married quite early, she g0t pr£gnant to a much older guy when we were in 200 level. That was the first ore Iyawo wedding I attended in my life. By the time we got to final year, she already had two kids. Wnenever I visited her, there would always be something to help her with. It’s either she needs help with the dishes or folding the clothes litt£red on the sitting room couch. One day, I went to visit her in company of our third friend and her whole house was upside down even though it wasn’t an impromptu visit. She was aware we were coming at least two days before yet she couldn’t put her house in order. Plates and cups were everywhere, building blocks were all over the floor, crayon marks were all over the wall and to worsen the whole situation, the enter sitting room was filled with the sm£ll of urin£, the exact sm£ll that one perceives from dried urin£ clothes 🤦‍♀️ She offered us food but we couldn’t eat. We assisted her with one or two things as usual then left not quite long after because we just couldn’t stay there. It was that b@d. On our way to the hostel, my friend broke the silence and said “se Biola nikan lo ma koko bimo laye yi ni? (Is Biola the first person to give birth on earth? ) how come her house is always dirty?” We had a long discussion on how she’s very lazy and how she needed to buckle up so her husband wont leave her, afterall, who wants a dirt¥ sm£lly woman? I remember saying “omo meeji pere” (only two children) what will happen when she has more? We didn’t go back to her house till we graduated and went for NYSC I got married shortly after NYSC and my daughter came. As early as six months old, she was already turning the house upside down. She had a masters degree in pouring water everywhere and a doctorate degree in t£aring paper and money. All I had to do was remove my eyes from her for one second and she would p££ on the extension box, paint the floor with my lipstick and break two plates 🤦‍♀️ One particular day, I was super stressed 😩 all I needed was rest but the house needed cleaning. NEPA had taken light for days and only brought it that afternoon. I washed the piled up clothes then used the soapy water to wash the toilets. After washing the toilets and arranging the rooms, I moved to the sitting room. As I was arranging something, she was sc@ttering it right after me so I decided to clean the kitchen first then come back to the sitting room later. My daughter who had started walking came to meet me and said “mummy, poo poo” I immediately carried her to the bathroom and brought out her potty. I knew she would not sit on the potty if I didn’t stay there with her. With soap still in my hands, I sat on the WC facing this girl for over ten minutes but she wouldn’t poo. I returned the potty and went back to the kitchen to continue washing plates. Not more than two minutes after, she came again and added a little cry this time around, “mummy poo poo” I took her to the bathroom again and placed her on her potty. She just sat there doing nothing but continued smiling at me for over five minutes. I brought her out and instinctively wore her a diaper and went back to continue the work I was doing. We were together in the kitchen and I only got carried away for a moment. By the time I jolted back to the present, she was no longer in the kitchen. Guess where I found my daughter and guess what she was doing? She removed the diaper, climbed the neatly laid bed and pooed right there in the centre of our thick white duvet.
