42 years ago today, I was out for a run in Houston. A tree fell on me, leaving me partially paralyzed. My parents instilled in me the values that carried me through my darkest days: hard work, perseverance, and faith in God. Our lives are not defined by our challenges, but by how we respond to them. Some say you need a spine of steel to lead. I actually have one. And I will never stop fighting for Texas.

So it looks like Oscar-Sanchez Munoz, the 22-year-old who shot five people along I-70 last Tuesday night, was found dead in the Independence, MO home that burned down last week. HERE is the story you won't hear elsewhere, according to multiple law enforcement sources: The morning of the shooting, area law enforcement folks from multiple departments were discussing Munoz, who on the morning of the mass shooting, had a state warrant issued for his arrest after he allegedly shot at a car June 11 in Wyandotte County. There were WARNINGS about Munoz being a threat to the community between departments across the state line. The response from an area department? Sorry, we're tied up with FIFA/World Cup/Fan Fest stuff.
