(a selection of post cleaning photos) , overall by removing 15+ years of settled dust from the boats surface with soft brushes, musuem vac and smoke sponges, the vibrant colour of the oak log boat was revealed, and has allowed better visibility for cut marks

Looking for heritage preservation advice. This is our family Seder tray. Every year at Passover, we polish it up as the focal point of our Seder table, and use it to display Pesach’s traditional symbolic foods. BUT it didn’t start life as a Seder tray! #yegheritage #Passover

@SamaHyde @Paulatics The commercial polishes but it will give a polish that is very mild and minimal abrasive which will reduce damage to your worn plating You than just wipe off paste with damo cloth . (also old t shirts work well as the polishing rags for this) Hope that helps

@SamaHyde @Paulatics But if you are going tobdo any further polishing id recommend you do not use commercial silver polish as they can be aggressive on plate Instead use a paste made from ground chalk and drop of warm water on cloth . Rub the paste in circular motion, it will take longer than 4/

So a quick Google has found these chairs sell for around £90 each. I honestly can't understand why they were not resold, given to another department or donated. The university has told us due to covid we have less for Reaserch allowance, yet they are throwing away 💷💷 😢
