So reports coming out that the 2027 ODI World Cup will be reduced from 14 to 12 teams AND the actual cut off date for qualification is 30th September rather than the previously reported 31st March 2027 Absolutely bonkers for all this to be up in the air 15 months away from WC

Joe Root played a very valuable 76* runs tonight. Mind you he played a couple of t20 games for his side Yorkshire where he didnt's score in a span of 3 days and just a day before this ODI game. It goes to show playing pajama cricket means nothing. He just went out there for fun with zero seriousness but when he is puts on the England jersey he takes his job and role assignment very seriously. The support he got from Liam Dawson was invaluable on a very tricky surface for batting. He was dropped on 7 and made full of his life. At 107/6 he could've thrown his wicket away and England would've probably ended up between 140-160. In the end they got 259 which might not be enough but it's still a very good score from the position they're at. That's why number 3 is a very important position in ODI. We have seen Kohli, Root, Kane, Smith, Babar how invaluable they've been for their teams over the past 10-15 years. While Kane has retired and the time has found an able replacement in Daryl Mitchell Australia have found it extremely difficult to replace Smith which is why discussions are ongoing to this day to reverse his ODI retirement. In Root's case I don't think he will be replaced in this format like Kohli for India.
