If you are using this on mobile, I advise using 'desktop mode' in horizontal layout. I did make some effort to get it in to a mobile friendly UI, but at that point I'd be considering actual app development. It is really suited to desktop usage, I'm not really a mobile developer

People were having odd problems, so I updated the whole thing. I won't be commiting massive amounts of time to this though. I have added options (galore), lossless generation & variables - and most importantly I have standardised with a Mercator projection.

SF render (without buildings). It can handle 500mb GeoJSON files, but my PC can't. Keep in mind this viewer is supposed to be significantly more high fidelity than the Sentinel version, as desktops tend to have the power.

I did the greater new York area and it crashed my browser, the features file alone was 600mb+ The converter has no issue handling less tags though, you could in theory just do road data but that's still gunna be in the gigabytes for the whole globe For that, there's dedicated files that you wouldn't pull this way, not sure how much the browser would cope with that though as it will load *all of it* If I take this out from being a demo/converter and improve it - ill probs cover use cases like that

I'm working on something, idk like might accidentally disrupt the monopoly of a certain cloud provider that is known for its map tools (and charging to use them) Google Maps, I love you, but your days are numbered

does anyone want a NEET gf who does nothing all day but play league of legends and work on a personal commercial open world zombie survival game that’s a spiritual successor to Dead Matter that’s still in pre-production

So, good news! I have set up a sole trading account (succesfully) - I do aim to establish a company, but I need the order and everything in place now. As I am working alone at the moment, I don't necessarily need to establish it further until I *do*.

So, I've copied this extract over from my site (long form suffers here, sadly). This explains the 3-board architecture a bit better than my other threads have. It's a wall of text, enjoy! The Sentinel is a three-board embedded system, and each board has a single, clearly defined job. The RP2350 is the main controller running SentinelOS - it handles the operating system, application logic, user input, and coordinates everything. The RP2040 Pico is a dedicated display co-processor that receives drawing commands over a 3 Mbaud UART link and renders them to the ST7789 display via SPI at 62.5 MHz. The ESP32-C3 Supermini is the wireless modem, handling Bluetooth LE keyboard input, WiFi access point and station modes, HTTP/HTTPS requests, and GPS position relay. All inter-board communication is newline-delimited ASCII text over UART - self-synchronising by design. A corrupted byte breaks at most one command, and the next newline resyncs the protocol. The co-processor has no direct link to the modem. All routing goes through the RP2350, which keeps the architecture clean and the failure domains isolated. If the modem is absent or unresponsive, the OS continues normally - Bluetooth and WiFi simply become unavailable. If the co-processor is absent, display commands go to an unopened UART and the system still runs. The display link between the RP2350 and RP2040 runs a text-based drawing protocol supporting over 25 primitives - rectangles, circles, ellipses, arcs, Bézier curves, gradient fills, thick lines, polygons, text rendering at multiple scales, 1bpp bitmap blitting, and nine CRT-style visual effects including power-on/off animations, screen flicker, glitch artifacts, and scanline overlays. The co-processor's IRQ-driven 8 KB ring buffer and DMA-accelerated fills mean the rendering pipeline keeps up with the 3 Mbaud stream without dropping commands. The ESP32-C3 modem provides three connectivity modes. Bluetooth LE acts as an HID host for wireless keyboards - tested with the Logitech K380 and MX Keys Mini. At boot, it automatically reconnects to any previously bonded keyboard, with a reconnection strategy that retries up to five times over roughly 75 seconds before notifying failure. This gives the 12-button keypad a full alphanumeric companion without attaching anything to the device. WiFi runs in two mutually exclusive modes. Access point mode creates the 'Sentinel-GPS' network for GPS relay and also exposes an HTTP endpoint for software keyboard input - any navigation key or ASCII character can be sent from a phone browser. Station mode connects to existing WPA/WPA2/WPA3 networks, enabling HTTP and HTTPS fetch from external servers. WiFi credentials are saved locally and auto-connected on subsequent boots. The HTTP client supports TLS via the ESP-IDF bundled certificate store, follows up to five redirects automatically, and streams response data to the RP2350 in chunks with inter-chunk pacing to prevent UART buffer overflows. Applications on the device can fetch weather, news, reference data, or any other HTTP resource while in range of known WiFi infrastructure - all without the RP2350 needing to manage network hardware directly.

@ImRedAndFoxy all of my architecture is modular in nature, so that's no issue!

It's not an issue in the long run, but it's *really* demotivating to log on and see hundreds of comments explaining exactly what my product is (in relation to that nomad thing), but that I am too busy trying to actually ship a product to market through it
