@RenAki5_TTV @JacCooper1 I don't know what polls you're referring to but even the polls that had blue win only did so by a thin margin, which does a good job proving red is correct since this is merely a hypothetical and more would absolutely defect from blue if it were real

If *everyone* "just" picked either button, nobody would die, but blue is the only button where nobody dies if just most people picked it The only allure of red is fearing other people

@imkikosuarez Blue does not guarantee that everyone lives, it specifically says blue pressers die if not enough people choose blue

@ImYazter @jamesjansson I am not debating at all, which option is the "right one". I am only saying that there are people who will see blue as obvious option. It doesn't matter what reasons you give for choosing either, large group (I estimate around 1/3) will see blue as obvious option.

The thing about the red/blue button theoretical is that it is true that if EVERYONE presses red, everyone lives. But there will definitely be people who don't understand or don't agree. By pressing red, you are guaranteeing the death of people. That sucks.

@ClySuva @jamesjansson If only 50% pick blue, then choosing red was absolutely the best option, such an outcome means nearly half the population almost died for picking blue, they carried all that risk to barely survive

@ImYazter @jamesjansson Your reasoning is solid, but unfortunately not everyone will reason the same way. Some will reason that: Picking blue is obviously the best option, because even if only 50% pick it, nobody has to die, surely most people will see it!

@mElonMario01 @JacCooper1 Thats 1 out of the many possible outcomes. Realistically, red would overwhelming beat out blue. Some will die, but the vast majority will not

@ImYazter @JacCooper1 If you assuming "most people" are smart enough .. The you are assuming at least 50.000001% chooses red. Most is just majority. So even the "smartest" persons knows a good chunk of people will die.

@TheKoopaGuy Voting blue only inches you closer to the worst case scenario up until you meet the 50% mark, which is a tall order if everyone is given the same buttons. Voting blue just increases the casualty count for the most part

@ImYazter But my priority is saving as many lives as possible, not just myself. We know some people will definitely pick blue, so I would pick blue in hopes that everyone can survive

It is of moral imperative to always answer the insert option for the blue button on every single one of these stupid bastardizations of the original question. Red buttoners don't deserve the satisfaction of being right because they simply aren't

A train is coming down a track. Everyone on Earth has the choice to either tie themselves to the track, or not. If more than 50% of people choose to tie themselves to the track, the train turns around and doesn't run them over. Yes or no - do you tie yourself to the track?

@TheKoopaGuy I think most people would understand the choices if it were to actually happen and would choose red since it carries the lowest risk and is a choice available to everyone

@ImYazter But that isn't the question is it? It's everyone has to choose, not everyone is given a run-down of the game theory and told to choose

@sleppsleepy @lucabobenrieth @hmn_alchemy @Wambulogy Thats a completely different thing than "views on what the question is". But no, I see the red option as the one most people will pick and the blue option as an unnecessary risk that most will not pick.

I keep seeing folks being like "If EVERYONE picks Red, then everyone survives." But like.. the same is true for everyone picking Blue, right? The majority picking blue prevents ANY death.
MrBeast@MrBeast

Everyone on earth takes a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.

Because we value human life, and are willing to risk death to avoid harming others. It's called self-sacrificial love. Try it sometime.

my last and final ever take on the red button vs blue button discourse is that a lot of you people are way too invested in deciding people's morality from a silly little twitter poll that has no real-world consequences and would never happen in real-life anyway
