Deputy Chief Immigration Officer, Usman Affan Riza, participated in the Indian Ocean Maritime Security Project (IOMSP) Maritime Domain Awareness Workshop held in Perth, Western Australia from 18–22 May 2026, aimed at enhancing maritime domain awareness, strengthening regional partnerships, and addressing traditional and non-traditional security threats in the Indian Ocean Region.

Eight Immigration Officers participated in the UNODC Passenger and Cargo Control Programme (PCP) Training on Introduction to Document Examination for Secure and Identity Documents conducted by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) from 20th May 2026 to 21st May 2026. The training enhanced officers capacity to examine security and identity documents, identify fraud indicators, and apply effective verification methods to enhance border security.

The closing ceremony of the ‘Home Team Advanced Leadership Program 2’ was held yesterday at Iskandharu Koshi. Conducted by the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement from 26 April to 16 May 2026, the program concluded with certificates presented by Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology, Ali Ihusan. The opening ceremony of the Chinese Basic Language Course was held yesterday at QI Campus, @VillaCollegeMv . Conducted by the Chinese Basic Language Center, 22 Immigration Officers are participating in this year’s programme to enhance practical Chinese communication skills for efficient interactions with Chinese-speaking travellers.

Controller General of Immigration, CP (Retd) Ahmed Faseeh, met with @CanBorder Liaison Officer/First Secretary Ms. Kazumi Kubo from the High Commission of Canada to explore training opportunities to strengthen border security capabilities through international best practices, tools, and techniques. Discussion also focused on strengthening inter-agency cooperation and participation in joint capacity building initiatives with partner border agencies.

Immigration Officer Ashiyath Mizna Mohamed participated in the Regional Workshop on Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants conducted by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime from 12-14 May 2026. The workshop focused on strengthening legislation in line with international standards and reviewing regional trends and challenges across South Asia.

16 officers participated in the Australian and Canadian Travel Document Training conducted by the Australian Border Force’s Airline Liaison Office today. The session focused on strengthening operational knowledge related to Australian travel documents, border procedures, document fraud detection, and identifying suspicious travel-related behaviour, further supporting effective border security and passenger facilitation.

En-route immigration clearance was facilitated by officers of the Seaport Division for 623 passengers and 395 crew members aboard MS Regatta, which arrived in Male’, Maldives today from Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Highlights from the special operation carried out under OPERATION KURANGI - PHASE 3 to identify expatriates who failed to provide biometrics, as well as those working illegally and operating businesses unlawfully. A total of 254 expatriates were apprehended for visa violations under immigration law, of which 72 were placed under surveillance, 96 were released after secondary verification, and 86 were detained for repatriation. @PoliceMv @HomeMinistrymv @min_mohst
