The account that never logged out
A guy passed away, but somehow, his X account never did. At first, it didn’t feel strange. People assumed it was his family keeping his memory alive... posting old pictures, sharing tributes, responding to condolences. It felt normal… almost comforting.
But then, the tone began to change.
The tweets became colder. Sharper. Almost personal in a way that made people uneasy. One post read, “I can see who cried and who pretended.” Another followed not long after: “Funny how death exposes more lies than life.” That was when people started to whisper. This didn’t sound like grieving family anymore. It sounded like him.
Still, no one said anything out loud. People just watched… silently scrolling, trying to make sense of something they couldn’t explain.
Then one night, without warning, the account posted again.
“Check your DMs.”
Thousands of people did. Some laughed it off. Others hesitated, but curiosity got the better of them.
Only a few replied.
Those few accounts went silent forever.
