Food insecurity is an unfolding crisis in #Afghanistan resulting in 2.9 million children under the age of five facing malnutrition, including over 850 000 children with severe acute malnutrition. A third of the people in country are living in food insecure areas. The situation has grown worse with both flooding and drought. @WHO has supported health workers to treat over 21 000 children with severe acute malnutrition with complications in 140 stabilization centers across the country this year. But so much more is needed. We urge the international community to help WHO and partners to deliver urgently needed health assistance and food.
