New research from the @MAPP_Research longitudinal study. Men’s friends matter. We found that as the number of friends in men’s close and extended social networks increased, one year later their symptoms of depression decreased. @OMDBpodcast @LaurenMFrancis_ Regarding socio-economic factors, at a country level, there was a difference. Men with unintended births from Low-Income countries had significantly higher risk of adverse mental health than men from middle to high income countries.

@LaurenMFrancis_ @ImogeneLSmith Fascinating research Lauren. Double the risk compared to planned pregnancies is very concerning. Couple of questions: - Is there any thought about whether the increased risk is due to regret, lack of support around the father/couple, both? - Are there socio-economic factors?

@OMDBpodcast @LaurenMFrancis_ Thanks for the questions. Factors such as regret and support were not meta-analysed in this study, given that there were not enough papers reporting on these variables.
