@Aella_Girl @selentelechia Haha, same! I loved the regency period so I got into Cornwall's Sharpe novels and now I know that you should always form square in the face of cavalry.

I got much more interested in war after going through the history of rome, where I got invested in the general plot, and then it was like 'oh shit is this guy I like with this army actually gonna be able to defeat this other guy" and then you can look at the battle diagrams to see the choices he made etc. After that I started getting a handle for how battles work and this made them more interesting to me in general

I need someone smart to make something for Amazon that tells you whenever you're about to buy a bowdlerised book and redirects you to the proper ISBN.

Raising our fourth toddler has made it incredibly obvious the way to deal with negative emotions is distraction. Oh you're crying because you hit your head? Is that a bird outside? Problem solved.

@hmmmcurious What kind of tea, tho? Milky English breakfast goes so well with buttery toast, crumpets, muffins, any kind of biscuit. The only pastry that goes better with coffee is croissant.

@ThymeToBeBorn The author is on twitter and very friendly if you want to tag him directly? (Didn't want to do it for you). I don't think there's much more gore once you're out of ancient executions but I haven't read it for a long time so I don't really remember. There might be matyrs...
