I want to clarify my point better: In normal physiology and conditions, creatine supplementation shouldn’t be blamed for causing whole body cramps that require hospitalization. We also have to be careful of the difference between creatine and creatine kinase. Creatine kinase (CK) is a biomarker of muscle damage and is different than creatine. CK is released into the blood with muscle breakdown and then it can damage the kidneys and cause death. This is caused rhabdomyolysis and you’ve seen it in the news with other athletes. Rhabdo occurs in athletes with intense bouts of exercise. Medical conditions and supplements can contribute to the risk of rhabdo, but creatine does not directly cause rhabdo. There have to be a lot of other contributing factors that lead to full body cramps and hospitalization. So blaming a very concerning health event on taking too much creatine means either he was taking SIGNIFICANTLY more than the label recommended AND wasn’t hydrating well AND had an intense workout. Creatine is just piece of what was probably a far more involved episode and brushing it off like it was a simple creatine dose issue puts unfair blame on what’s a very safe and well studied supplement.

Darryn Peterson reveals taking a high dosage of creatine led to his cramping issues at Kansas and he was taken to the hospital by ambulance in September because he thought he was going to die, per @ramonashelburne "I made it to the training room and just started begging them to call 911. They were trying to get a vein to get me the IV, get me back hydrated. But I was cramping so hard they couldn't get a vein. I thought I was going to die on the training table that day." Jarred Vanderbilt Injury Update: While the injury can appear gruesome, most pinkie dislocations in the NBA have not resulted in missed time. However, that changes if the pinkie is fractured or a bone broke through the skin (open dislocation)

Ever since Duncan Robinson was a little kid, his big brother, Eli, was his biggest fan. While Duncan carved out a career, Eli had his personal struggles. And last year, his suffering was just too much. This is their story of loss and love (told with the incredible @simonpb17)

@HPbasketball Both players have different risk factors. AG likely fighting the combo of age and prior injury. Age probably not a big factor for Jalen but previous injuries likely played a role.

@InStreetClothes So with the rash of injuries to guys like Jalen Williams and Aaron Gordon, those players are less likely to have reoccurrence because of age?

@HPbasketball Age and prior injury are often cited as the two biggest intrinsic risk factors for soft tissue injuries so they do go hand and hand

@InStreetClothes are soft tissue injuries more or less correlated with age relative to other injuries? My experience has been players that have had major surgeries incur complications and follow up procedures that cause a downturn in availability as they get older (knee soreness, etc) but I don't necessarily remember repatitive calf and hamstring injuries being tied to age but that's anecdotal.

Victor Wembanyama Injury Update: There is no mandatory timeframe to complete the league's mandated protocol, primarily due to the variability associated with concussions. This season the average time lost for a concussion was 9.3 days (median = 7.0 days).

The Pelicans' restructuring has created at least 25 vacancies across basketball operations and business departments so far. Medical and performance was hit hardest, with 7 vacancies. Analytics also completely gutted.
