Now that the emotions have settled.. 🧵 I was so confident going into this tournament. Always saying, its winning it all or nothing. But to actually get there is so unreal and I still can’t believe it. Ever since beating Marto the tears came up now and then. Looking through Twitter and Discord it felt like not just Europe was rooting for me, but that it was literally everyone. I was close to giving up partly on content creation due to low revenue despite hard work during a period of unemployment, but this tournament.. it made me realise how much the heart and soul I put into high level content is appreciated. I’m still emotional while writing this 😅 it felt bittersweet scrimming 7-1 vs some of the best of the world and not being able to take it home, but looking at the overall performance… this is something I could only dream of and perhaps never repeat again. Once again a big congratulations to our humble world champion Yekai - my well aged Utrecht form tweet was not enough to stop him and his playstyle and calls just threw me off the choices I should have made. It actually is so poetic that I have won a tournament and got to 2nd at worlds with Giratina Origin, avoiding Lickitung in literally every game.. But it met its end in the final game of the grand finals. I really wanted to push for another Great League Giratina Origin for the community.. But this was Giratina’s swan song. Rest in peace ❤️ Can’t say it enough - thank you again for all the support and messages. I will likely be again at all the European regionals and with the prizes I have earned here, I may aim to visit all ICs as well. Now to enjoy my last 3 days in Hawaii. Until we meet again ✌️

Officially a dad! God blessed me today with a baby boy. He is the cutest little thing my eyes have ever laid on 😭 I'll let him rest today coz tomorrow we have over 800 episodes of Dragon Ball to catch up on together. Noah has lots of things to learn from Uncle Piccolo 🐉

details of the World Championships Qualifiers for APAC are now live! a major change this year is increased qualifying slots (16 for India‼️) we've had back-to-back APAC World Champs so far, can you keep the streak going? 🫵

@CalebPeng This is an important period for Worlds practice, and locals are nice for that I hope the alternative rewards are incentivising enough

TL;DR Locals won’t award CP over the summer until September 1st. In the past, locals in July and August grant you CP for the following year’s Worlds. Thoughts on the change/summer break for CP from locals?

@_Kazim33 With how much safer polarizing matchups are in Ultra league I feel like this is a 'I win games so meta is good' kinda post. If opponent doesn't run fragile Pokémon you're just not forcing advantages upon bad lead & swap-in 😅 *not saying its better/worse than great league

Ultra League when played to its full potential is much more skill expressive than Great League could ever be.

Reading the comments to this has been... rough, to say the least. I'll admit I have concerns. But the people behind this DO care, they DO put in the time, and they DO read a lot of the feedback. My stance on it has been that I don't want to judge until it's finished 1/

@InadequancePOGO Care, time, and reading feedback are appreciated, but that doesn't necessarily mean right approach (or qualified) ... and re: the last, as developer for over 30 years experience, I've never seen an app released regularly, for the public, with bugs 🤷‍♂️

@InadequancePOGO At this point words are not good enough. I'll believe it once I see it with my own eyes and I'm confident in this being the opinion of the majority. What our eyes observed so far was the gameplay becoming clunky and I'd go as far as objectively worse.

@TheZzweilous well, i do think there's a knowing in what the product is supposed to be. otherwise the whole page of pvp redefintion wasn't so well written. so the knowledge of mechanics are there at the very least. i'm guessing its too big of a difference between internal and global servers

@InadequancePOGO My personal hope is that they mostly keep this under wraps until after Worlds, at least for trainer battles. We can't have any serious competition become an experiment. The December break sounded optimal for that, but now, they just gotta wait for the next one.

@pogodomz i doubt a new system would come up anytime soon, but i wonder if a new app would relieve the pvp framework of any of the gps stuff etc. like maybe some sort of pokemon champions for go?

At this point, GBL or any form of PvP, including show six competitive play, really needs to become its own dedicated app, with a smooth transition once the new systems and mechanics are actually refined. They can leave the old mechanics on the current Pokemon Go app while they experiment with the new mechanics in the new app, similar to how they kept both Classic and XL formats for a grace period before removing Classic level 40 Pokemon. Six years of trying to get this right is a long stretch, especially for a company with the resources to put real emphasis into this part of the game. It is the very reason I never wanted to invest my own resources into competitive play. I always applaud the competitors and friends who push through and try to overcome the known issues during battles, but something is not adding up, especially after three months of a miscommunicated interlude season followed by last minute drop of the new mechanic release.

@InadequancePOGO Maybe I am being too simple about it, but I feel as though they skipped several forms of testing before jumping straight into a regional rollout. You, HSH, AXN... really ANYBODY could've told them "hey, great start, but I don't think this is ready for public testing..."

@Sarg3__ i was asleep already but from my understanding it was live in GBL and trainer battles again for at least 4 hours (around 12 to 4AM GMT+1). when i tried at 8am today it was reverted again. i definitely recommend getting as many sets in before it goes back if thats your preference

@InadequancePOGO Is the new system out for everyone? I played last night and it wasn’t for me. Hoping it still isn’t when I try some battles later this evening

@HugoAPlayz i think this perspective is too simple. it's understandable, obviously, we see the product however - i don't know about you, but i'm not very knowledgeable on how an app for million+ people is programmed. who knows what is necessary to make it function

With all due respect, if they truly did care, they'd know better than to roll this out in ANY capacity. I understand that as players we will (at some point) help beta test. But this isn't anywhere NEAR that point. If I was working on this team, I would lose my job making sure this version of the game never made it out for public testing because of how embarrassing this is to my team, and myself. Just my $0.02.

@StefanDjocker i will give you the most annoying but accurate answer possible there is probably a very good reason, and we'll never know. who knows how roadmaps may or can change along the way, or what happened inbetween. we can only assume

@InadequancePOGO My big question is why have an interlude season for the past 3 months while keeping the old code? Why not have an interlude while you work on perfecting this one?!

I tend to be on the pessimistic side, but now hoping to spread some optimism. Let's just see how it develops, in GBL and in grassroots/competitive play

I just hope the right people have been involved in this. I feel like PvP players, champions and content creators that know the depths of the mechanics could've provided input that would've been very valuable for the gameplay. Perhaps some of them have. Just my thoughts
