The story behind Korea becoming the master of cooking chicken is incredible They do two things that force people into making chicken: 1. They discriminate against old people 2. They have a very poor old-age social safety net So people open chicken shops, iterate, improve, etc.

@hugowiz I visited Varenna one cold day in December 2019, and although it was sparsely populated, it still was a beautiful visit. The sunset across Lake Como was spectacular.

I am on a bus to Dervio, and I can see that Varenna is packed with tourists, despite the short weather

@CharmOfCulture I visited Orvieto this past December. Although it rained most of the day, it was a lovely town to visit. I really want to go back to the region to explore more.

📍Orvieto Built on a volcanic plateau, it rises dramatically above the valley. Known for its cathedral with a golden façade and its vast underground tunnels carved from tufa stone.

Next on our tour of Italy’s 20 regions: Umbria 🇮🇹 The only region in central Italy with no coastline, Umbria is often overlooked—but it’s full of medieval towns, green hills, and is well worth visiting. Here an overview of one of Italys most underrated regions 🧵

Can we please devote a bit more AI resource into making things less shit, rather than demonstrating things that are amazing. I was dictating into Outlook and it interpreted the word "new" as "gnu". What possible model would assume an email about marketing had turned into a contemplation of the wildebeest?

This paper is incredible. One of the best shortest papers of all times. If you're interested in proper scoring rules, forecasting, or information theory — and especially if you know who John McCarthy is — you need to read this.

@hugowiz I hope you have better luck than me. I have three lemon trees, and each year they produce a profusion of wonderful blossoms. But so far, I’ve only had three lemons fully develop. Oddly enough, they never turned yellow. They just stayed green, but they are not limes.

For the first time in around 10 years, since I have got this lemon 🍋 tree, it's flowering! I will probably have lemons, this year!

@hugowiz I was there the second week of December when the scaffolding and bridge were still up and the water drained. While it was amazing to get so close to the details of the fountain on the bridge, it’s nice to see all that removed and the water restored.

@rorysutherland @YouTube I’d been WFH from 2000-2019 as a consultant, then I went back to a corp environment in 2019, which required in-office attendance. After a 3 hr daily commute and an annoying open office space, I was exhausted and stressed out daily. WFH saved me!
