Recent debates in the United States are raising concerns and sparking questions here in Canada. At a time like this, it is essential to ground our conversations in evidence and to affirm our shared values. Current scientific evidence does not support suggestions that taking acetaminophen (Tylenol) during pregnancy is linked to autism. Discussions about autism must be guided by respect, accuracy, and inclusion. Oversimplified claims about “causes” and the use of stigmatizing language are unacceptable and distract from the real priority—creating a Canada where autistic people are respected as full citizens and included fully in every aspect of society. We stand in solidarity with the autism community, their families and supporters. We join our partner, the Autism Alliance of Canada, and are in support of their recent statement. autismalliance.ca/autism-discour…

When Canadians choose suicide, we intervene... unless that person has a #disability. Track 2 MAiD is blatantly discriminatory and must be repealed. We are calling on all political parties to: ✅Repeal Track 2 MAiD ✅Interrupt the expansion of MAiD to people with a mental illness ✅Respond to root causes of suffering, like #isolation and #incomeinsecurity ✅Ensure Track 1 MAiD is properly safeguarded ✅Defend these actions to Canada’s Supreme Court Read more about our election priorities here: bit.ly/3XPbeeF

Inclusive education is flexible. This is inclusion in New Brunswick. Sometimes, students may need to be supported outside of the classroom, but returning to learn with their peers is always the goal.

A classroom where everyone is welcome. This is inclusion in New Brunswick. The more time any student - with or without a disability - spends in an inclusive setting, the better the outcomes are for their development.
