Younger American says the Boomer Generation doesn’t understand what’s going on in America, and was misled
“Boomers are the only generation who has had more than what their parents had and more than what their children had. They've had more than any other generation in history, and they were told, and wrongly so, that this was because of their own merit.
And because this belief in meritocracy runs deep with them, they actually think that it's our fault that the world is the way that it is.
It's really not fair for us to be constantly gaslit by these people who had so much privilege and could buy a house on $16 an hour, or the equivalent they could buy a house for double minimum wage. I'm making double minimum wage right now, and I can't afford to move outta my parents' house”
She then explains how the Boomer Generation is hoarding the wealth with no plans to ever let it go, even in passing
English

@CaptKennie Next week it will be the horrible boomers left nothing to their kids.
English

Yes elderly people, sell all your house at way below market value, so other families can afford them. Don't worry about the housing price crash you then cause, the tens of thousands left in negativity equity, all the house sales in progress that will now no longer go ahead.
Sorry, but are people really this dumb?

English

@chicfryrice @marktaylor584 I’m the last year of boomers and I’m 62. I’ll make it easy for you. Every generation has challenges. The gap between what it costs to live in California and the Midwest has grown enormously. The average house has grown far more complex.

I feel like my post earlier was way more optimistic on this post. 50 hours a week makes me and my wife tired. We cant be fun grandparents. It’s stressed our relationship with each other and to some degree our daughter. Blink for five seconds and she climbs everything. Go on vacation? Force the daughter to take vacation days. Some days are just
English

Why does Nina conflate "I don't want to babysit 50 hours a week cause I'm old" with "I am disinterested in my grandkids?" Some of us watch the kids a few days a week or as needed but full time? My body is not up for it.
Nina@NinaPanickssery
Genuinely curious—why don’t more people use their own parents/kid’s grandparents for childcare as opposed to daycare/preschool/nannies (which seem more common)? Is it common for boomer grandparents to show disinterest in their grandchildren?
English

@ASo1omons I usually park up by the Chapel on FT Myer and use the walk through gate.
English

@DolioJ She was 6 and her sister was 8. The fact she equates that to a person willfully committing a crime is disturbing.
English

@NinaPanickssery Truth is we created a need for two income families. Most boomers mothers didn’t work so they were happy to have grandkids around.
English

Look my wife and I take care of 3 of our grandchildren. Dropped off at 7:30, fix them breakfast. Take the oldest to school, pack his lunch. Feed the other 2, take the middle one to preschool. Hope the little one naps. Snack when the boys get home. Mom picks them up at 5:30. It’s a lot, often overwhelming. Combined with taking care of elderly parents, trying to go to other grandkids sporting events. Honestly it can wear us out. But they will only be little for a short while. And it’s not for everyone.

Spring 1985 OSUT has about 3 weeks left. I’m a recycle (the lowest of the low) fly my not quite 19 y/o wife to El Paso. It’s projected to be a weekend pass. All goes well but I return and have that oh crap what have I done moment. I’m going to be the guy talked about forever that left his wife on Dyer Street (it was near Transmountain). Call the hotel from the pay phone, no answer in her room. The Drills back then weren’t exactly approachable. A holdover (waiting to go to 24 series course) sees my angst. Says my wife is here and will go get her. Tells me later she is at their apt and everything is good.

@Hotchkiz Don’t forget when your child eats beets.
