He focused on the desert landscape of ‘Palai’ in Sangam literature and interspersed it with a story on Tamil migrant workers in the Middle East. through an experimental film-essay blending real footage and animation to address themes of separation and longing.

Jayakrishnan Subramanian examined a metaphoric interpretation of classical Tamil poetry and the artistic depiction of the desert landscape in his project Palai: Landscapes of Longing.

From The #IFAArchive | Nida Ghouse—Extending Arts Practice: 2013-2014 Nida explored the early history of sound reproduction in India through her project 'Acoustic Matters'. Inspired by the film 'Hawamahal', she sought to look at understanding sound ecologies in India.
