The Union Cabinet has approved Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna (BHAVYA). This will enable the development of 100 plug-and-play industrial parks, boosting manufacturing, investment and jobs across the nation. Sports journalism is the voice that turns games into stories, athletes into icons, and sports into a force for national pride.
I had the privilege of addressing the SJFI Convention 2026, a historic gathering of the sports media fraternity held after 23 years.I was joined by Sh Hari Ranjan Rao, Secretary (Sports) & Director General of the Sports Authority of India, Sh Saraju Chakravarty, President, and Sh Ramesh V, Secretary of the Sports Journalists Federation of India.
During my address, I emphasized the need to give due space to non-cricket sports, highlight government initiatives, promote sports tourism, and open career paths in emerging fields such as sports science. I also underscored that journalism, as the fourth pillar of democracy, is essential in advancing social good, and that sports media plays a critical role in projecting India’s soft power globally.
The gender gap in sports journalism was another key point I highlighted, urging greater participation of women in the field. I sincerely appreciate the unwavering support of sports journalists, whose dedication strengthens the sporting ecosystem.
