Some had doubts when I said Mumbai water supply level will cross 35% by Thursday. Well it's done even better as it's reaches 41.36%. Next 48 hrs should see more increase. This is much needed as long term forecast are not encouraging but hopefully couple of more good weather systems rest of the season to take water level over 90%. #MumbaiRains

Mumbai water supply increased from 9.41% to 13.19%. I’m expecting to cross 35% by Thursday. Good news!

I’m not scared of anyone. I clearly said politicians across party lines in Maharashtra are corrupt which has created other problems potholes, gobbling up open spaces etc. Anyone who disagree with this is either biased or living under cave. But fact is BMC handling of extreme rain events has improved last few years even before BJP came into power.

I know there is debate about BMC & State Govt handling of Mumbai Rains. There is always room for improvements but given the intense extreme rain event of 1200mm in just 8 days they did decent enough job. Any city in the world would have struggled. BMC & all politicians across party lines in Maharashtra are very corrupt which has created other problems which deserves criticism but handing of extreme rain events they have got considerably better. #MumbaiRains

@IndiaWeatherMan You mean Santacruz weather bureau data that BMC has traditionally maintained for suburbs? Or Santacruz East? Or Santacruz West?

So Santacruz, Mumbai recorded over 1100mm rainfall last 8 days.. That’s almost half the seasons rainfall and more than average July rainfall. As expected there were lots of disruption but this was needed to increase water supply. Mumbai still will be fine as El Niño has less impact on West Coast compared to most parts of India. But North India and some parts of Central India likely to see deficit rainfall this season. #MumbaiRains

Mumbai has seen these extreme rain events all its recorded history but last 20 years we have seen increase in intensity as due to rising sea temperatures more intense weather systems are forming. Things going to get worse next few decades with extreme rain events. #MumbaiRains
