Much as everyone is talking about #JewarAirport, I hope people also realise that from Central Noida, it takes 1 hour 10 minutes by road to it -- the same that it takes from Central Noida to reach IGIA, T1 (T2 andT3 take an additional 10 minutes). 1/2

Israel's Parliament has passed a law to execute Palestinian prisoners. Death by hanging. Mandatory sentencing. No pardon. 90 days to execute. 10,000 Palestinian prisoners could be executed. You have to be a monster to raise a toast to killing people.

I am no stranger to criticism and have learnt, over time, to absorb it without losing focus. That is part of public life. What is harder to accept is the steady erosion of civility in our discourse. Disagreement is essential; derision and vituperative, personal slander is not. A confident society does not fear dialogue—it conducts it with balance, clarity, and respect. As for me, I follow the teaching of Sri Ramakrishna and his advice: “forbear, forbear, forbear.” That has guided me through my life’s journey.

Kerala pays the highest additional honorarium among all States to Mid-Day Meal workers - minimum Rs. 11,000 per month as additional honorarium as per Centre’s own answer, which has in fact already been revised upward twice thereafter by the State. Meanwhile, the Centre’s contribution remains stuck at a meagre Rs. 600 per month under PM POSHAN. Even as States step up to ensure dignity of labour, the Union Government refuses to revise its contribution. You cannot build a flagship nutrition scheme on undervalued women’s labour. Time for the Centre to pay its fair share. #keralam #ldfgovt #rajyasabha

You know you live in a fucked up world when an attack on four empty ambulances in London makes more noise than strikes on 100 medical facilities in Lebanon and over 700 attacks on health care in Gaza.

A final-year law student, Rishi Kumar from Tamil Nadu National Law University, refuses to delete his blog criticising the Supreme Court… despite pressure from his own university. Why? Because the administration allegedly received calls from advocates, judges, and others claiming the post harms the institution’s “reputation.” The blog titled “The Supreme Court of India Has No Spine” questioned the court’s decision to ban an NCERT textbook chapter on judicial corruption. But here’s the real issue: A law student is being told to silence himself… for expressing a legal opinion. His response? Clear and powerful: “My opinions are mine… you do not own my voice or my conscience.” He even said he’s ready to face disciplinary action rather than back down. This isn’t just about one blog. This is about academic freedom vs institutional pressure. If law students… the future of the judiciary are discouraged from questioning the system, then who exactly is allowed to question it? Criticism of institutions ≠ disrespect. Silencing criticism = weakening democracy.

Whenever you’re reporting on survey results, always include a note on methodology. So I dug around and found that the survey org Morning Consult only has a sample of 300-500 for India. Also the surveys are done using “general online or literate population”. Then the sample is weighted to make it representative. Anyone who has ever run a serious survey in India will tell you there are huge issues with this in terms of sampling and representativeness. Even a sample of 5000 is small for India, so forget about 500. Also, the headline is misleading. The survey was administered to between 300-500 people in India who probably are on the Internet (meaning urban/educated). The results are India specific meaning the PM has a higher approval rating amongst Indians as compared to say Macron amongst the French. But sure you can rank them all and say “X is the most globally popular leader”. However, they didn’t ask the French about Modi just as they didn’t ask the Indians about Macron. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Alt News is ₹10 lakh short of breaking even this financial year. We need 2,000 people to donate ₹500 each before March 31. That's 6 days. Fighting misinformation isn't like putting out a fire. There's no moment when it's done. It's a fact-check every morning, a verification every afternoon, documentation of hate speech that nobody else is recording - day after day, year after year, for nine years. We don't take ads. We don't have sponsors. We have readers. Donate before March 31! pages.razorpay.com/altnews If not you, who? If not now, when?
