There is no point being in the Paris Climate Accord. New Zealand produces a tiny fraction of global emissions. Even if we shut down the entire country tomorrow it would make almost no measurable difference to the climate. Yet we are expected to cripple our farmers, increase power prices, add costs to businesses and send money offshore. Why? New Zealand is already in debt. That money should stay here. Build roads. Upgrade infrastructure. Lower taxes. Strengthen the economy. The government’s job is to improve the lives of New Zealanders, not participate in expensive global virtue signalling.
