@DEvanAltman Sorry. I meant 3-4 game guarantee and that’s all. No bracket play. No need for under 12U to be stretching to 5 games and more for in a weekend. Most don’t safely have the pitching for that without PO’s.

@DEvanAltman Great take here! Most kids and families have a very positive experience. And the late bloomers point is spot on. There are definitely improvements to be made. We can start be getting rid of weekly tourneys. Just make each weekend a 3-4 game guarantee.

@DEvanAltman I thought this was kind of crazy. My son played against CG’s JV team last year and the pitcher was a junior committed to pitch at a small college. Their staff was THAT good that a college level pitcher couldn’t get innings in the varsity.

Many of the JV teams we see would more than hold their own in some of the smaller classes, and even against a lot of mid-level varsity squads. It's wild, man.

I went to a really small HS (500 students) and we played mostly other small schools, so it was rare to see an athlete who would go on to play D1. Our best basketball player ever went to Michigan State, and one of his teammates played football at Ball State.

@MattGlenesk I 100% hate to have the PE firms involved, so happy to see we are trying to get something done to protect families and smaller organizations. There are MANY things wrong with youth sports, but the majority of kids and families still would say they have a positive experience.

@MattGlenesk I agree, BUT kids are playing in the nicest facilities and fields in history. It costs $$ to build and maintain. Even dirt baseball fields cost way more than what people to know to maintain properly.While $60 is crazy, I feel like people expect free or less than $10 for a weekend

@dandakich I always want to know the story of how it actually passed. Like HOW THE HELL did all those AD’s vote for it? Small schools competing against big schools for sectional championships. What a time! Crazy they changed it.

I can’t imagine anyone using the word “tradition” as a reason to not change after they took away single class basketball. High school shot clock could be :45, which would address the ridiculous stall ball strategy. I actually think the NBA should move to :35.
