Indiana Pork supports building a talent pipeline for the industry through several programs. From high school work-based learning placements that introduce youth to production careers, to opportunities that prepare college graduates for management roles, these efforts strengthen our workforce. We also recognize the importance of developing advocates for agriculture and hope these experiences expose college agriculture majors to how policy impacts the industry and how they can turn their passion for agriculture into meaningful action. Please join us (or encourage the college student in your life) in one of our upcoming young leader programs! Sign up at share.hsforms.com/179ksl3e0SQO59…

Certified Indiana Bred (CIB) is a nonprofit program of Indiana Pork that connects Indiana purebred swine breeders with youth livestock exhibitors and their families. The program rewards families who purchase locally raised showpigs for 4-H projects. The CIB Board is hosting an educational event and late-season pig sale in Rochester, IN on Friday, March 27. This event provides an opportunity for families seeking quality pigs later in the season compared to the earlier sale schedule the industry has moved toward, and supports Indiana’s showpig community. Sale Details: We will have an educational program at 5:30 to 6:00 PM with learning opportunities about swine nutrition and health. Participation prizes will be provided! Dutch Auction format: Starts at $750 at 6:00 PM with their choice of the barn. The sale amount decreases $150 every 15 minutes until 7:00 PM, ending at $300. Exhibitors who win a CIB award with pigs purchased at this sale at the Indiana State Fair will split an additional $2,500 bonus, in addition to the standard $500 CIB award. For questions, contact Chad Martin at cmartin@inpork.org or 765-586-0860.

Current past Illinois Pork Producer president Josh Maschhoff will be in Chicago Wednesday to address the Chicago Public Schools Board of Education, calling for a formal review of the district’s pork prohibition impacting 630 schools that currently cannot serve pork at breakfast or lunch. Indiana Pork hopes your message is heard! porkbusiness.com/news/why-did-c…

Indiana Pork's Taste of Elegance was held January 27, 2026 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in downtown Indianapolis. During the evening festivities, we honored Jeff Rodibaugh of First Farmers Bank & Trust, and Terry Shaffer of Shaffer's Goldrush, with our Meritorious Service awards. Dan McInerny, who recently retired from Bose McKinney & Evans LLP, was also honored for his longtime service. All three of these industry leaders provide incredible insight and leadership to the Indiana pork industry! Pictured below on the left is Jeff Rodibaugh and his family. Pictured on the right is Terry Shaffer and his family.

Late last week, thirty students interested in work-based learning in pork production participated in Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) certification training —helping them meet Indiana graduation requirements while exploring careers in agriculture. Training was held at Eastern Hancock High School and led by National Pork Board PQA Advisor Dr. Price of Rushville, with pizza provided by Indiana Pork. We are excited to encourage more young people to pursue careers in pork production.
