India is unlikely to cross $20T by 2047. Most of our experts and policy makers have accepted the mediocre 7% gdp growth rate, which means that, at best, we will at only $12T by 2040. Maybe babu reforms will happen sometime, but knowing our polity it is unlikley that babudom will ever become accountable or transparent. Our politics is also way too fractured for judicial reforms. Municipal reforms are also hardly anyone's concern in the power corridors, meaning no real quality of life and dignity for urbanites, the future of India. Meanwhile both China and the US should be $30T+ by 2040. TBH I feel at ease by drawing down my expectations for India. I have accepted dirty cities, unruly masses, incompetent low-level babus, no real R&D and no real indigenous advanced tech development. This is not a blackpill - blackpill is when you say that India will break apart or not grow over $10T by 2045. However, its definitely much lower than a point where India crosses $10T by 2035 and stands tall and shoulder to shoulder with the US and China in terms of economic, military and technological might in 2040s - a place where we can truly say that India is one of the three great powers of the world. Imagine a $11T India, begging for a 6th-gen fighter jet engine from the US in 2044 - thats where we are headed as of now. Now, you might push back at me as to why did I even imagine India crossing $10T by 2035? You might call me a fool for dreaming about an India that stands together with China and the US. Well, I have seen, and for that matter, so have you, the kinds of things Indian society can do if it sets its mind to something. NIIT in every urban gully which massively skilled our manpower for the IT revolution - this is a legendary feat, no polybags anywhere (mostly) - reducing low grade plastic pollution and most recently the COVID vaccines; these are just few examples. I am not even counting things like our budding space and pharma sector. Fact of the matter is that our problems are mostly the lethargic laced policy making and lack of any real ambition in the people who are incharges today. There is no real structural barrier present that is stopping India from reaching $10T by 2035. Just a mindset issue by uncs and babus who seem content with just reaching $8T by 2035.
